Beware! There have been reports of mugging in Millhouses Park, the cafe area. The mugger has been known to go by the name Mod: Name Removed . He usually comes out at night, but has been known to come out in the day, he has been said to be potentially harmful.

I've heard of this man, apparently he's done serious damage to a young boy in a disgusting assault, and people i know have seen a person hanging around the cafe area near when it gets dark and you get teenagers there. be careful.

thanks for the warning - My nannie (yes, I know) often takes my three year old for walks by the river there.
Does anyone know of any safe parks/places for women and children to walk?
Isn't this the sorriest state of affairs?

I trust you have given this information to South Yorkshire Police and the City Council?

why name the person who is doing it on a public forum, shouldnt you just go to the police and its a bit strange that both the people who posted ha only signed up today and have only posted this.

Isn't this the sorriest state of affairs? Millhouses park is still relatively safe, if like anywhere else you are sensible.

I use Millhouses park a lot and see many kids in there. During the day you get the skateboarders that keep themselves to themselves and during the night you often get gangs of kids hanging around in their doing what ever they do at night time.

It's a shame when crime does occur in places like this, but it's nothing new and it doesn't mean that the park is a no go area.

About 10 years back there was a couple of lads taking mountain bikes from young kids in the park, sometimes threatening them with a knife, although it was never used or shown to the kids. This lead to South Yorkshire Police having officers in the park in plain clothes and eventually one of two lads was caught by a family after he and his mate took a young lad's mountain bike. This led to the arrest of the other lad and they were both dealt with at the time.

I know that for a while this caused a bit of worry about the park, but I know many people that still use it and I've used it all these years without problems, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The point I am trying to make is that there has always been crime about, including in Millhouses park, so it's not something new or a cause to avoid the park.

Like anywhere, just be sensible and you should be fine.

It's a shame that criminals exist and cause misery, but it doesn't mean we should avoid our parks that are there for us to enjoy.
