*Peaches* 27-08-2008, 08:38 Guinea pigs and rabbits are fine to be kept together - Guinea pigs and rabbits do not make good companions, would you lock a cat and dog up together?
Girl pigs are nicer than boy pigs, boys will always fight - Girl pigs DO NOT make better pets than boy pigs. Girls are hormonal and tend to have more fights than boys.
Guinea pigs don't need stimulation - Yes they do, like any other pet.
Guinea pigs are ok kept alone - No they aren't, they are group animals and can become very depressed when kept alone. (There are the odd exceptions to the rule, I am yet to find one though)
Guinea pigs can eat potato peelings - NO! Under NO circumstances should piggies be fed potato peeling
Opposite sex pairs will not breed - this is one of my personal pet hates. Boy and girl pairs WILL mate, produce babies, and within 4 hours of birth remate. If you are going to keep opposite sex pairs together NEUTER THE BOY!
A neutered boy can go straight in with a female pig - Nope, fraid not. They must remain separate for at least 6 weeks post op.
Please feel free to add your own :)
LitleMermaid 27-08-2008, 09:12 I totally agree with the fact tahat girl pigs don't make better pets then boy pigs.
I've had both, and although my girls were lovely, all the boys I've had ahve been much happier to just sit and cuddle! They wriggle to go back into the cage when they need to wee too, the girls just relieved themselves wherever they stood-normally on my knee:gag:
:D

My cats and dogs sleep together and like each other
but i would never put my piggies with opur bunny.
My girl gps often fall out with eachother but soon make up and are happy again, we did have a few problems with a couple of younger girls earlier in the year but now its all settled down well.
Dalmatians do not need grooming ROFL
That's all I have to say
All tom cats will spray your house! Twaddle- neutered toms are no more likely than neutered queens to spray.
Queens don't spray. Also twaddle- all cats spray to mark their territory outdoors, but most (both neutered toms and queens) know not to do it indoors.
Toms are less of a good snuggly house cat. Missing a word- entire toms tend to be less snuggly and go wandering looking for girls, scrap a lot etc. Neutered boys are as soft and snuggly as queens usually.
Spoiled cats live on tuna and chicken breast. They may live on it for a while, but it's nutritionally incomplete for cats and is likely to result in the cat going blind and a number of other down sides later in their life- they need the nutrients that are only contained in the organs too (which is replaced in complete cat food with nutrient supplements).
Cats want to harm babies- the vast majority of the time they want to investigate and snuggle up to babies (after all, they smell intriguingly milky and are new family members) but they don't know not to lie on the baby.
Contact with cat litter trays can cause foetal abnormalities and miscarriage. Wrong- contact with a dirty litter tray that's not been cleaned in a week may contain viable toxoplasmosis protozoa, but this is only dangerous if you actually ingest it. All it takes is for you to wear an apron and gloves then wash your hands afterwards to make sure that you don't transfer any of them into your mouth- or of course to change your litter trays more often than once every 5 days (because they won't have had chance to hatch in that time).
Cats can be vegetarian- no no no no no no NO! Dogs can be vegetarian safely because they have evolved to be omnivores like us. Cats have a shorter, more specialised gut and are obligate carnivores. They cannot be vegetarian and anyone trying to keep a vegetarian cat in line with their own choices is harming their cat.
I could go on for days with this one...
Dogs are obedient - oh yes try telling this little blighter alongside me snoring.
Moonbird 27-08-2008, 14:12 Brother/sister, mother/son, father/daughter what ever species won't mate...well they will breed quite happily (other than human I hope)...my cat Rosie is offspring of mother and son
A dog/cat should have a litter before spaying or it spoils her...twaddle!

True Feugo farther is also her grandad
My rabbits and piggies always lived happily together, to the point of the piggies helping raising a litter of baby bunnies and the rabbit defending the piggies almost to the death from an attack from an escaped ferret.
But then one of the cats also suckled from the dog, I suppose it's what they're used to.

they may live happily together but its to do with safety! Rabbits can hurt the pigs when they kick out and also of them carries a bacteria thats harmful to the other but i cant remember which way round it is!
*Peaches* 27-08-2008, 16:16 Rabbit bites can kill a pig. They also have different dietary requirements
knighthawk 27-08-2008, 20:15 Snakes are wet and slimy :loopy:
