My daugther who is nearly 17 had her mobile stolen last night.
She has just got a boyfriend, so now is the time more than ever that I feel I need the mobile to be able to know she is OK as she is now going out at night more.
It's like an invisible umbilcal chord. I don't pester her but just knowing that link is there for us both is reassuring. The thought of not being able to get in touch with her or for her to be able to contact me if she is in trouble worries me.
It's ridiculous because we all managed when we were kids without them, it amazes me how we can become so dependent on them.
I keep meaning to copy all my numbers down in case I lose my phone but still haven't. I bet I'm not the only one there either.
Are mobiles a good or bad thing I wonder. Yes it's great to be able to get in touch easily with your kids but the violence of phone theft and car accidents due to driving while on the phone are a definate minus.
I am wondering wether I should try to go a week without using it, competely switch it off and see if I suffer from withdrawel.
Does anyone else feel like a slave to their mobile?
