Not long now until Grin Up North 2008 and they've finally put the line-up on their website.

I was wondering what everyone thought about it this year. Is it as good as last years lineup?

I've got my tickets for Rich Hall/Otis Lee Crenshaw and The Comedy Store Players so I'm a very happy chappie.

I already have tickets for most of the events. I've been keeping my eye on the city hall website for the last couple of months and I've been booking as and when they've popped up. The lack of Brendon Burns is a bit disappointing (are you listening Toby?!) seeing as he was such a big hit last year.

Let's just hope I get a bit more energy this time, as last year totally pooped me out!

Looks like this year I'll be booking a few tickets for Rich Hall, erm.. That's it.

Spoke to a few friends who are also a little disspointed in line-up, and some of the ticket prices for some of the lesser known acts and them being in a small venue are between £10-£15 are a little excessive. Also,a few same-old-faces turning up isn't very inspirational.

Admitedly, getting a few big names rocket the ticket price to over twenty quid, and also depends on the acts availability and venue size (Jimmy Carr is not going to play the Memorial Hall given the seat receipts/performance fee he'd receive).

Shame we couldn't get Sadowitz, very very difficult to deal with though.

Hi Honk

I'm sorry that you feel there's not much for you in this year's GUN, but I have to say that we're really quite happy with Toby's programming this year.

David O Doherty, winner of this year's if.comedy award at the Edinburgh festival, is on at The Lescar, as is Sarah Millican who won the best newcomer if.comedy award. These used to be known as The Perrier Awards, and are the most respected awards in UK comedy and to get both winners at The Lescar is great for us. Also at The Lescar is Zoe Lyons who won the award foe best joke at The Edinburgh Festival. Rhod Gilbert, who was the bookies favourire to win the if.comedy is on at The Memorial Hall.

We've got loads of new exciting stuff on (book now for Ladygarden and The Asylum, two wonderful shows) and great solid stuff in The Memorial Hall.

Yep, we have to have Jimmy on, for several reasons. He's a great comic, he's a wonderful man, and he makes money for the festival.

Any chance of getting Jerry Sadowitz up here at any point ? I guess he's tricky to work with, but you can contact him via his site (I think he dropped all his agents !!!)
