How do you save/print stills off a video, e.g. using Windows Media Player ?
Also can you edit/shorten videos in Media Player ?
Is it actually possible ? If not, what software do you need ?
I don't know about media player but I know you can save screenshots from VLC (htp://www.videolan.org) - either a single shot, or a set of frames from a given section.
As for editing, the only free editor I can think of is virtualdub (http://www.virtualdub.org) but last time I used it it wasn't all that intuitive - there may be other free editors out there, I've not looked in a while.
Hope that helps,

I usually use Cyberlink's Power DVD to capture a screen from a video, but as has already been said, VLC will do it, and probably just about any other quality media player (Media Player Classic etc.). I don't qualify the standard Windows Media Player as "quality"!
As for trimming and editing videos, Windows Movie Maker will do it, but there are better alternatives, I use VirtualDub or Nero Vision Express.
