View Full Version : Crashes on A57 Today

Been to the Superbikes at Oulton Park today and on the way there and back, I don't think I have ever seen so many crashes in the space of a year, never mind in one day.

This morning there was an incredible crash involving one car just this side of Snake Pass Inn. The car was upside down and I can't think how anyone could have survived the wreck. It was upside down with all the possessions thrown all over the road. It looked like it happened a while before as the police had already dealt with the incident and all ambulances had been and gone.

A few miles further towards Glossop, there was another incident. A few cars had stopped but it didnt look too serious.

On the way back, right where the junction of Rivelin Valley and the A57 meet, right at the small joining road next to the car park there had been an incident with a caravan and quite a few vehicles. There were about 7 police vehicles, ambulances and officers were redirecting traffic over to Lodge Moor. Not ideal for large vehicles.

.....and not one crash at the motorcycle racing!

Sorry, does anyone know any further info on these incidents or if anyone involved is OK?

Nor any mention of road bike incidents.
That's because we motorcyclists are well trained, observant and well aware of our vunerability.

We went to Scarbrough and I was amused to see the usual panic of some drivers as they are overtaken (Slam the brakes on, indicate to left then swerve into gutter only to recompensate by swerving back again forcing the rider wide  ).
Being flashed whilst overtaking/filtering by oncoming vehicles (White van man at that  ). Contrary to possible popular belief we bikers like living too, so are not going to ride straight through your vehicles front end!
Oh and the obligatory Corsa full of spottyteens who believe their 1.1 litre engine can match the performance/adgility of todays sports bikes :loopy:
A good day spoilt only by the soaking on the way home but then again it was a British Bank Holiday:(

Hope no one was hurt in said incidents.

lots of bike accidents over the weekend but not many deaths, thankfully! was overtook by an R1 on the way to skeggy only to have to stop a mile up the road when he came off on a sharp bend. Must have been doing 120ish when he passed me and my mate bit to fast for the stretch of road he was on luckily he was okay.

Personally we didn't see a one.
Good news especially considering the amount of two wheel traffic out that way this Holiday (Olivers Mount races), plus the start of the "season" as it were.
