No, but he IS addicted to the doorstop!!! He's 10 months and has been able to crawl a while and first thing he does when he's put on the floor is go and take the wooden wedge from under the living room door. He then either scrapes it along the radiator, bashes it on the floor or attempts to crawl to the front door with it in his hand (and fails, because you cannot crawl while clutching a doorstop ;)).

Yep and mine are 2 and 3 now and still into doors- it's mainly more excitedly slamming rather than investigating though now!

my 1 year old is exactly the same. if she sees a door she has to close it. I know she will trap her fingers.
she is v. active and accident prone. she likes the stair gate, sometimes if its open, she will close it.
nightmare at the weekend, she was playing with soil in the plant, my hubby kept drgging her away, i had just made myself a coffee. he said you will have to get her next time. so i put my coffee down quickly. got her away from plant. i went to wash my hands. and in that split second. my hubby shouts, what you done.
you know, she knocked the coffee on her. she hada sleep suit on. but still went through. we got her in the sink. pour cold water on her. rang a ambulance. her arm is wrapped up. and tiny blister in the crease of her arm.
something like that really does shock you/scare the hell out of you.

The worst scare I've had happened a couple of weeks ago. I was in the living room and Mrscamrat was in the dining room. Babycamrat has a habit of toddling about between the dining room, kitchen and living room. I thought he was in the dining room with the wife, she thought he was with me......

Next minute I hear him gurgling, walk into the hall and see his beaming smile looking at me through the balistrades on the stairs!! He'd only managed to climb halfway up and then stand there shouting proud of his achievment!!

Nearly had a heart attack.... felt like such a bad parent!

As soon as he started trying to go for the stairs we taught baby alien to climb up and down them so he knows what to do. We obviously use stairgates and are with him as well but it sorted out his obsession.

He does like doors a lot, especially the one to the cupboard that contains the fridge - it's usually opened or closed with an accompanying "Yum yum!" hehe!

We've had a coffee incident too - my partner made me a coffe and took it into the living room for me. I came in with baby alien about five minutes later and couldn't find it, so started looking at the shelves. Cue a crash and splash behind me! I turned around to find baby alien covered - partner had only gone an put it on the high chair tray! Of course baby alien thinks anything on the high chair is fair game for him and he loves to drink tea from a mug so he made a beeline for it. I grabbed him and stripped him off. Any part that looked red went under the cold tap.

Thankfully he didn't need any medical attention as I had left it 5 minutes and I don't like my tea/coffee too hot, so have cold water added to it to make it drinkable. So it wasn't scalding, but I was so cross. My partner's not put anything on there since. Baby alien was fine after a few minutes and a change of clothes - enough to tip the bowl of water I was using to scrub the carpet over everything, requiring another change of clothes and towels all over the living room floor for days!

I know the guilt can be unbearable at times, but do remember that these things happen. I have early memories of pulling my Granddad's tea all over me, and I must have been about 3. And I also remember falling in an ornamental pond on a family outing when my Mum had expressly told me NOT to walk on the stones at the edge, again, at about 3.

My Mum left pot pourri on a table and my sister (who had a habit of eating non-food items) toddled up, ate some and then projectile vomited it everywhere! 19 years on from that incident and we wouldn't call my Mum a bad mother at all - it's all part of the learning process in the end.

Doors and stairs and also remote controls are my almost 1yr old's utter obsession!!!!!
Toys are really nothing compared to the above - if he gets bored of these, there is always the shelves of Cds and DVDs to empty!!:hihi:

My lad (18 months) is completely fascinated by bins. Doesn't matter where, indoors or outdoors, he just wants to throw rubbish in them all the time. I take him to soft play, the water fountains, the park and while the other children play, he's glued to the bin for the duration :loopy::hihi:

Forgot to mention Baby Alien's obsession with lights. It was his first word, and now whenever he sees a light anywhere he will stop and point it out (it's terrible on the motorway at night if we've been to see my folks, haha!). He could even be crying and really distressed and will stop to point out the light and then go back to crying. Crazy bab!

Same here! He loves pulling the DVDs off the shelf and flinging them around. he's not happy until the shelf is empty. He's been obsessed with remotes and mobile phones from about 4 months old, he also loves make-up bags and purses and will happily empty them and examine the contents.

I've ended up putting a doorstop in his 'box of junk' which he plays with in the playpen.

He can also turn the bedroom light on and off because it has one of those cord switches behind the bed, and he yanks it on and off like a disco light.

He loves ripping up newspapers too and banging things with a wooden spoon.

Sounds exactly like my 2 yo! Any sort of door be it a normal door or a cupboard door or the fridge door, its always worth a good slam in his eyes!!!
