The post screen? [where it counts the memory etc]nothing the screen is just blank.
Disconnect the psu kettle lead. Hold the power button in for a bit. Jumper the cmos on the mobo to reset it (remembering to return it back).
"Blank lit up screen"? Does the mobo have a speaker attached? Can you get num lock on the keyboard? Do the case fans spin?

Do you normally see the post screen (http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=post+screen&btnG=Search+Images)? The screen beyond an Emachine logo 'flash' screen. From what you have said, I'd assume this normally appears, but isnt doing so now.
You shouldnt have anything like printers currently plugged in. Is the wireless keyboard you are using the one that came with the computer? If not and you have the original, you ideally would have been better using this during the recovery process.
Anything else we should know? Upgraded gfx cards, that you have it plugged into a TV like the chap on the other thread etc...
Assuming you are not seeing the post screen when you would normally expect too, the next step is to clear the cmos (http://images.google.co.uk/images?gbv=2&hl=en&q=cmos+jumper&btnG=Search+Images). If you cant locate it on your mobo or are unsure, post the make and model here.

i tried the restore disc again and hey presto it worked only thing is i now cant get the internet,i dont think the dvd rom is working as some discs wont run so i cant put the netgear on.
windows has probably restored to it's initial state and won't have drivers for much of your hardware installed, if you look in the device manager this will tell you what devices you need drivers for as they'll be the ones with red crosses on
you'll probably need system board, video and NIC drivers installing as a minimum

thank you to everyones help up and running fast:thumbsup: as a flash
take an image backup using something like ghost or acronis and keep it safe so if it goes wrong again you just restore the backup
