View Full Version : The Baggies' last stand
LordChaverly 02-05-2005, 18:10 Tonight's the night. If we lose against the Gunners its probably goodbye to Premiership football. I have a bad feeling that we are about to get the s**t kicked out of us (literally as well as metaphorically) this evening.
One consolation though, at least I'll be able to see the Baggies at Bramall lane next season.
At one stage a few weeks ago I thought that West Brom might escape the drop as they seemed to be the in form team. All of a sudden the botton lot have all started producing results when it matters and West Brom now look like they are gone.
I know this is going to sound mad- but there are rumours circulating the internet and especially in the MU forums around where I've been that MU will purposely draw with WBA in the next game to get them some points.
The rumour also stated that we would purposely lose to everton in exchange for the transfer fees for Rooney..
Sounds mad-- but we've already lost to Everton so Im putting a few quid on the draw on saturday just in case.

Why would they want us to get some points? I hope the rumour is correct though - on second thoughts, its probably already too late. We are a boomerang team - good enough to get promoted, but not good enough to stay up.
spyro2000 03-05-2005, 16:07 I still think the baggies will be the ones to beat the drop, but tis well too close to call.
out of all the teams i want southampton to go down. Its about time.
Told you it would be a draw did I not!!
Wish I'd put some money on it now.
Bugger.
I see Fergie had another moan about not getting any penalties as well. :P
Fergie is getting on my wick now and I see we are now going to end up in 3rd place as well... time for a new man at the helm methinks + some new blood in the team.
Many people think that West Brom are not in a bad position here. They have Portsmouth to play who are safe and have nothing to play for. Norwich on the other hand have Fulham away, who are an extremely inconsistent side and Norwich haven't won away all season.

Portsmouth have £1million to play for. The bottom club in the division gets £500k at the end of the season and teams get another £500k for every place above that. Portsmouth could leapfrog Fluham and Blackburn if they win, earning themselves £1 million. You are right though, West Brom will be more up for it.
if Palace beat Charlton then West Brom are down. Given that Palace are also fighting for survival, and Charlton have lost 5 out of the last 6, I think (hope!) there is every chance.
Please... Fulham, beat Norwich!
Palace v Charlton is a derby so that will be tense whatever is at stake. Charlton have been in free fall for a while now.
Norwich have not won an away game all season and are playing Fulham away who on their day can play very well but they are very inconsistent.
I've read somewhere that Southampton are bookies favourites to beat Man Utd. Who would have thought that?
Portsmouth players are playing to impress their new manager more than anything else.
It is going to exciting and I see Sky are making the most of it.
Baggies 15 goals in 18 home games, Portsmouth 13 goals in 18 away games. Tense it's going to be, exciting I think not.
I was referring to how the day pans out as a whole. It will be exciting for the neutrals.
Could come down to quality strikers for the bottom four clubs.
Norwich have got Ashton, Palace Johnson.
Crouch suspended for Southampton and for the Baggies.....probably a toe end from a set piece.
I reckon two of the four will win - and both relegated sides will be in with a shout for promotion next season.
If I had an each way bet I'd go for Delia or Dowie.
My footie predictions are usually dead wrong...............
