hey all :)

I am suffering badly with pain in my knees and wanting to know if any of you lot have had it before and what you done to relieve it!

During my pregnancy my right knee was quite painful, the pain is worse when i am starting to stand up, when i am walking up stairs or if i bend!
its a sharp sort of glassy/burning feeling. I also have this in my knuckles on both hands when making a fist or trying to open jars/bottles.

Since having the baby its in my other knee so both are so painful.
I have mentioned it to the midwives and health visitors who say its common and will pass but its really getting me down.

Its been almost 5 weeks since he was born and its not any better at all. I am going to get some ibuprofen tomorrow as i have read that its safe to take when breastfeeding. I am also going to try get into the doctors to see what he says rather than just the nurses.

Thanks for reading and hopefully i can get some ideas to help!

:D :D .x.x.

OH GOD YES.

I've seen a physio and basically its because of hormones and breastfeeding.

Sorry it will continue x

i breastfed first time round and had nothing like this :( i think needing to lose weight has a lot to do with it too, even though i did not put on anything at (apart from baby/afterbirth weight) i have since put on a bit as finding it hard to get around! i also had some to lose in the first place!:hihi:

I am going to start swimming as soon as i can but i not got the all clear to go yet :(

While i feel for you as i know what pain you feel i am glad cause now i sort of know its normal:D

Yes! And I can't find anyone else who does too! It is finally subsiding, 11 weeks after birth, and I feel a lot more active and able to twist/stretch without pain. For me it was in my knees, ankles and thumbs mainly and I also found it painful to open bottles and things. I was told it was the hormone relaxin still in your body and to do with breastfeeding. So all I can say is mine seems to be going so hang in there! xx

Strange thing it was the opposite for me as I normally have joint pain and from the 3rd trimester till I stopped breast feeding it was wonderful. Not to be a scare monger but if joint pain is a problem definitely get yourself checked out. A friend of mines developed arthritis when she got pregnant which unfortunately didn't go away.

Hi all! I can so relate to this - I had severe hip pain (as bad as contractions) off and on during most of the pregnancy and for a bit after the birth. I'd agree with above, I reckon it's weight gain (I put on 4 stone...midnight chocolate raids...) and those hormones soften everything up aswell - not a great combo.
