TheNewGirl 05-05-2005, 17:46 Hay,
Also a new arrival here. I'm not going to call myself a surfer but I did spend a few months down Newquay over the summer giving it a go. Havn't got my board anymore but would be interested in giving it another go for sure!
flash_gordon 05-05-2005, 17:56 hey NewGirl,
I do not consider myself a 'srfer' either, far from that! My board is arriving from Oz tomorrow :)). If you intersted in exploring either Scarborough (which doesn't always work but when it does is good!) or North Wales (Hell's Mouth seems promising) drop a line. Ah, btw there is the Roxy Pro down to Newquay from 22-29May, I was planning to go down and have a look.
Hoping in nice waves....

flash_gordon 06-05-2005, 06:06 hey guys
great to meet you here
so, yep will get in touch with you
and maybe we will start sm srfaris up here....
and, ehm, im not aussie but I lived in Perth for quite a while (there 'Scarborough' means a really good spot!).
and, I am totally bad in srfing falling off all the times (actually, the more you fall the more you improve!). I am great in dumping and that's it, and scared of anything bigger than 3 ft....
but I am positive about trying a srf up here, at least there wont be hungry sharks around...
hey, goin down to newquay anyway....at the end of the month
catch ya

EZ... Ive lived in australia and go to newquay every summer an do bodyboarding.
Ive never surfed but have been itching to get into it for ages.
Im well up for going to Cayton bay (scarborough) any weekend where I hear you can hire a board an wet suit for three hours for 25 quid.
Im 25 an have my own car.
Anyone intersted in puttin somethin together give me a bell on jon_newsome@hotmail.com
flash_gordon 02-06-2005, 09:52 yep,
would be nice to organise a trip one of these coming w. ends.
summr is 'nearly' here...
if we are a few we could also hire a small van...
anybody?
melbournian 03-06-2005, 08:03 Hi This is an exciting post you can count me in. I am a novice but I have my own Longboard. Surfed on Bondai and Bells beach near Melbourne and of course the amazing Newquay- But never Scarborough.
playerdameos 03-06-2005, 19:50 ye i would be up for that to mate
flash_gordon 06-06-2005, 15:54 cool!
so, even if at the moment in sheffield its colder than in Vladivostok and the temp of the waters in the North sea is not even 10deg.C, Im thinkin of packin things and goin over scarbs next w.e.
A 2.5-3ft swell is forecast. more than enough for me. Whoever would fancy to join the trip, either email me (as above) or pm me.

Hey all, am not very experienced but just got back from devon and cornwall after a week surfing and am planning to head for north east shores soon. Just wondered does anyone know how long it takes to get to Cayton bay from Sheffield. Is it a feasible after work journey??
Neil
flash_gordon 24-06-2005, 11:10 Hiya,
Cayton Bay is not far from Sheffield.
By car it takes about 2hrs. And you can easily check out Withby and (not too) secret spots as well.
But if u not carrying yr own brd and not much stuff,
u can also go right there by public transport,
i.e. train (via York, faster) and bus (121, 120) once in Scarborough.
Whole journey takes abt 2 n a half hrs or so.
You can hire there a brd from srf shop (www.caytonbaysurfshop.co.uk) for 2.50£ (1st time I asked for 6!!!).
Its going to be an extra webcam
working just in front of the surfable part of the bay in a couple of wks.
Guys in the srf shop post info on daily srf cond on
CEEFAX p.429.
However, in summer Yorkshire area tends to be flat or with quite small srf and
I still believe that in case you have a car its better to head to Hell's Mouth in North Wales.
abt 2 n a half hr drive but more consistent srf.
If more time and a bit more money available, in just 4hrs from Sheffield u can be in 5* srf in Ireland...
Give us a buzz if want 2 join or more info.
