My house burned down of Friday night, while we were walking our (uninsured) dog in the woods.
Luckily sprog 1 was in Coventry sulking with boyfriend 3. Our wonderful neighbours proved their worth in every way. The firebrigade did their work and managed to find and resuscitate all 3 kittens.
All I can say is, best avoid valuing anything just for its own sake. If it has a purpose you can replace it with another one and not care, if its only purpose is that you own it, you feel very upset when its suddenly gone! Thankfully, I don't give a "flying fox" (to quote sprog 1) about any of the stuff we own, so it doesn't matter, its just a nuisance.
Miss a few lovelies, the wall hanging from pakistan, the dogs comfort blanket, his guitar (was a 12 string really nice one) sprog1 had very nice coat I liked wearing when she was away.
All in all am now living in a tent and its fine, altho have to admit have paid a visit to relatives over the bank holiday and avoided the rain.
the best thing is, no one can phone me up, and its beautifully quiet and peaceful (except for the hedghogs - dog cant leave them alone).
We've decided to ask all our relatives and friends to contribute a missing item replacement on a random basis and see what we end up with, should end up with a really good music and book collection anyway.
