Agree with your comments The_Daddy. I don't think he needed the sob story to be honest because his looks and his (singing) voice would have got him through.

Possibly, that's why I put Andy(?) couldn't quite remember.

In all fairness, X-Factor produces interview them and then put what they want on to make a story. Like they did with that girl from Bridgend last week, they asked her some questions about it and then made it sound like that is the reason she went when it was nothing to do with it, she didn't even know any of the kids that killed themselves!

Some tuning issues, you went of key - but the story is good.

You're through!

It's all emotional exploitation. They do it every week. There's someone with a good voice, and a heartbreaking / heartwarming story. I don't necessarily think that the singer intends to use the story, but the programme producers leap on it and milk it for as much as they can. And the judges always prompt the singer to tell their story, it's as if they've been tipped off. (surely not)
The format is always the same, something along the lines of.....
" Someone who's hoping to impress the judges is 37 year old Norbert Snodgrass. Three years ago Norbert dropped a 50 pence piece down a grate and couldn't get it back. However, despite that setback he's battled on, and hopes that if he get's through to boot camp, someone there will lend him 50p."
It's a bit cynical but seems to happen every year on every one of Mr Cowell's programmes.

Course they intend to use the sob story. These people know they couldn't get through on their voice alone.

He is yummy though.

He obviously made it up cos he knew it would work... but I'm not sure his family will see it in a particularly sympathetic light...

His Dad accuses him of lying this week

Buy any of this week's new TV guides for proof.

The chap's "birth father", Alan (senior) was on Calendar this evening, and says that Alan (Junior) was never estranged, nor was he fostered, apparently.

Sounds like blatant manipulation to me.

It's a talent contest, not Jeremy bloody Kyle!

If the lad has issues with his family, he shouldn't be broadcasting it on National "prime time" Saturday night TV.

If I'm honest I don't think airing problems on a national TV show like Jeremy Kyle is the time or place either.
