View Full Version : The Blades win and the owls errmmmm dont
canadablade 23-08-2008, 16:38 Nice little win for the Blades today and a couple of dropped points for our chums in S6...
Blades up to 5th in the table now

Good win for the Blades and the goals not scored by the forwards either. I have been to see Sheffield FC and they won 3-1.
Fantastic win for the Blades, scoring for fun, good point for the Owls.

looks a lot better to me than it did this time last season :D
The Blades win and the owls errmmmm dont  made a monster when I started these
Fantastic win for the Blades, scoring for fun, good point for the Owls.
Agree with you on the first point, but not the second.
I think even PNE fans would agree that they were lucky to come out of the first half only 1-0 down.
And yes I know that a game of football is split into two 45 minute periods ;)
peterpete 23-08-2008, 17:03 apart from a ten minute spell in second half for blackpool united were comfortable winners.
sounds like wednesday dominated the first half but preston spurr ed
on from their fans had the majority of the second half . even stevens all round.
The Manager 23-08-2008, 17:07 Agree with you on the first point, but not the second.

Yeh i agree
But a good win for blades and a good point for owls!
Mr Sheffield 23-08-2008, 17:10 To be honest the owls have had a decent start to the season and i`m fairly happy!we played really well today and were unlucky not to win! much better start then last season and we usually put a good run together near Christmas time too.
I think even PNE fans would agree that they were lucky to come out of the first half only 1-0 down.
your right igm but its ok to dominate but goals win games not very often the owls dont conceed at least 1 oh well
on the bright side 4 points better off than at this stage last year so cant complain
keep :D
NERVY-OWL 23-08-2008, 17:11 we were exellent in first half, should of had more. dont know what happened to them in second half.

just shows how good and loyal the true wednesday fans are??? what a poor attendance......
come on people explain yourselfs???? where were you???
we paid the price for not finishing the chances we had:mad:
the ref was a total looooser...
we were worth the point though...
Well, I had Wednesday down for a loss before the game so a point is better. Silver lining an' all that. They really should have buried them tho.
Plus point was that the new signing, McMahon sounds a good player. Well done Laws.
NERVY-OWL 23-08-2008, 18:47 mcmahon looked a decent player. was very impressed with asajas and jj,just a shame theres not much on the bench attacking wise, i wouldnt want to have to put clarke on when we're losing
And news for the Bus Man that his side were held by the mighty Yeovil !!!!!!
Jazzybmzoo 23-08-2008, 19:35 Thought we were outstanding in the first half, especially Esajas, Johnson & Deon. Should've nailed 'em though!
First shocker i've seen Tommy Spurr have as well. He dropped numerous ******** and if it hadn't had been for Beevers he would have cost us dearly.
Never mind though, more points than we had this time last season. :)
Rocklegend 23-08-2008, 19:54 Another walk in the park for The Blades.Even the rain held off till we got to the car.Amazed we got the pen cos we got nothing else from the ref all day.
doubletop 23-08-2008, 19:58 Tommy is normally rock on ,hes just had a bad one today, at least we've not lost,Preston have had a good start to the season
Agree with you on the first point, but not the second.
I think even PNE fans would agree that they were lucky to come out of the first half only 1-0 down.
And yes I know that a game of football is split into two 45 minute periods ;)
PNE Had won there 1st 2 games so they were the form team,it could be a good point come the end of the season.
Bull Dog 24-08-2008, 03:16 Wouldve took a point before the game
Good result for blades but did have a chuckle when Kabba scored
And news for the Bus Man that his side were held by the mighty Yeovil !!!!!!
He stays away, simple as
Agreed, definite plus point that McMahon looks like a solid right back.
Just shows you the gulf between the Premiership and the Championship when they can afford to let a solid right back go on loan for a month- no worries!
CorkerSWFC 24-08-2008, 11:05 They seem to have got plenty of good young players at boro, look at that David Wheater he's a top prospect.
mr_busdriver 24-08-2008, 22:05 Well well well, time for analysis.
Sheffield Utd, another win, so this weeks prize is a brand new BMW
Rotherham, 3-0, excellent, although perhaps with the opposition being more humble, perhaps a 02 plate ford mondeo for them
Sheffield Wednesday, a win was on the cards, however they blew it, so a car most befitting them is required, here are the keys for......

No analysis for the Leeds result??
;)
SpeedwayDan 25-08-2008, 00:31 A shockingly poor crowd for our second home match, but it shows our fans have simply had enough of paying over inflated prices when we get treated like something you'd scrape off your shoe.
As for the match itself, we played some fantastic football in the first half, but i said to my mate we'd need more than a one goal lead, because i knew we'd lose our heads at some point, but i didn't expect us to lose our heads for a complete half of football.
Preston where shocking to be honest, even with us self imploding, they still relied on one of our players making a huge mistake to get a draw.
CorkerSWFC 25-08-2008, 01:27 Preston were crap m8, i thought both wingers laid chances on a plate, on another day we would have slaughtered them, thats the nature of football.
To be fair Beevers is young but like i heard at the beginning of the season he is likely to make mistakes he did one Richard Wood did about 5.
Deon Burton played excellent along with Tudgay, O Conner seems to be coming into his own aswell, lets not mention Tommy Spurr in this match lol.
I fancy us at Swansea next week.

Nah, The wheels haven't come off.
Robbie Loving 25-08-2008, 08:33 2 wins out of three now so I'm relatively pleased.
Sadly didn't make the blackpool trip as I was in the lakes, but there is plenty more of the season left.
To be honest, these are the games we need to be winning, and it looks like we have gone there with a good outlook on the game, instead of thinking that we will trounce the opposition.
As for the Owls, I think it is a good point for them, however a mate of mine said you should have been about 5 up by the break. But at least you still look pretty in 10th.
Next up CARDIFF, 0-0 draw I reckon
bladebloke 25-08-2008, 08:52 Next up CARDIFF, 0-0 draw I reckon
next up huddersfield.
CorkerSWFC 25-08-2008, 09:00 Has anyone noticed some of the games we have played, U lot at blackpool while were at home to Preston (rivals) Then this Saturday u lot at home to Cardiff while were away Swansea (rivals) strange stuff eh lol.
Robbie Loving 25-08-2008, 10:03 next up huddersfield.

yep gunner be a quick one. striaght there straight back.
fingers crossed get through and a decent home draw next round against a premier side or dirty leeds.
mickdalewood 25-08-2008, 11:21 I thought Wednesday played well in the first half some good football but, i still have doubts about Grant at times he dosen't seem to talk to the defence which confuses the back 4. As for shot stopping he is good
Good win for the Blades though

Agreed, Grant only seems to talk to/shout at his defence after a goal has been conceded
Some experience at the back would be essential.

I know the back four are all young and i agree some experience is needed why not Watson to help organise
I know the back four are all young and i agree some experience is needed why not Watson to help organise
Thing is though, I can see Watson being Lee Bullen Mark II.
Watson has no pace due to his age, he would be experienced head at the back yet still a weak link.
mickdalewood 25-08-2008, 12:53 Going back to Grant igm1, i went to Chesterfield he let a soft goal in at the near post and again at home to Burnley, his non talking is not helping the defence
SpeedwayDan 25-08-2008, 18:06 .
Deon Burton played excellent along with Tudgay, O Conner seems to be coming into his own aswell, lets not mention Tommy Spurr in this match lol.
I fancy us at Swansea next week.
I personally though Burton had a poor game, he didn't win much in the air like he normally does, although he was being man-handled on many occasions but the ref didn't want to know.
Thought he looked a little tired, which is understanable when he only arrived back from Canada on friday.
Tudgay battled for everything again, he's come back even better so far this season
I see the best two teams in Sheffield both won this weekend. So well done the Blades and the Millers
CorkerSWFC 25-08-2008, 18:44 I personally though Burton had a poor game, he didn't win much in the air like he normally does, although he was being man-handled on many occasions but the ref didn't want to know.

To be honest m8 im bias cause i think Deons well underated, his linkup play is stylish.
Tudgay is the best player at the club even better than Sodje in my eyes, he chases, scores goals, works hard, and is a model pro.
Jermaine and Ettiene have done well so far this season, lets hope we can step it up another gear at the Liberty Stadium.
I think Saturday is a pointer for the season as a whole.
If we can't beat Swansea then we won't do nowt this season im sorry to say.
canadablade 25-08-2008, 19:16 I personally though Burton had a poor game, he didn't win much in the air like he normally does, although he was being man-handled on many occasions but the ref didn't want to know.

To be honest though he must have been tired from the jet lag because he didn't get tired on the pitch.
NERVY-OWL 25-08-2008, 20:32 he did ok seems he hadnt had any training with the squad before the game and was probably still tired from the trip back. the ref didnt want to help him too much, their players couldnt keep their hands off him, thought there was a definate penalty for one, unless i was wearing my blue n white tinted glasses
CorkerSWFC 25-08-2008, 21:40 Ive said it before and i,ll say it again, Wednesday will not get promoted this season but will definatly upset a few apple carts on there way.
One thing from what ive witnessed in the last 4 games is entertainment and value for money, even if it isn't always the right result.
Id rather see a team of tryers and decent "wednesday" players rather than loan signings from all over britain and beyond.
UP THE OWLS WERE DOING SOUND LADS!!!
Bull Dog 25-08-2008, 22:19 To be honest though he must have been tired from the jet lag because he didn't get tired on the pitch.
Well Canada is a long long long way from Sheffield aint it!!!

Have to agree with you Corky, There was nothing like watching the Blades home or away on a Saturday.
Not sure about watching trams pass :heyhey::heyhey: But whatever floats yer boat.
I can imagine your excitement of seeing football again after a couple of years of not being able to to go to matches, There really isn't nothing like a saturday when theres a football match on.
Sunday to Friday though I know where i would rather be

CorkerSWFC 26-08-2008, 08:07 The trams bit was more of an iconic gesture, i suppose its more cable cars or ski slopes for you yeah lol.

CorkerSWFC 26-08-2008, 15:19 Come on then Canada Blade what makes a "proper supporter"?
someone who lives thousands of miles away and goe's every now n then, or someone who earns money within the community they were born and still live, and gets paid pittance for it, but still goe's to watch there team?
5 hour time difference so posting at work and getting a pretty penny to do it

I took the tram from there to the Sty last season ;)
To answer your question Corky about whos a proper supporter.
I would think its the ones that go week in and week out and put money into the club they follow.
Going over old ground here but i have been there and done that and now live in Canada and pick and choose my matches.
I still put money into Sheff Utd by buying stuff online etc
You were banned for 2 years and so because I saw wednesday play United does that make me a more proper supporter than you the last 2 years..Of course it doesn't.
When i was there I was doing what you are now doing, going week in and week out.
If i could be at the match every week i would be, because I am here doesn't mean I dont kick every ball for the Blades every week and trust me the results every week mean exactly the same to me as they do to you.
I did my time living in Pitsmoor, Hyde Park flats, Norton and Gleadless Valley, My path in life brought me to Canada, its where i choose to be and for that I wont apologise....I still live and breathe Sheff United over here.
You are again a proper supporter of the piggys and i class BladeBloke a proper supporter of the Blades,Me call me what you want but the Blades are and always will be in my blood :D
Regards CB
CorkerSWFC 27-08-2008, 08:44 From the look of your pics no wonder you went off, my point is though if it wasn't for mobile phones, internet and so on, then there would be no way in the world you could support United as you wouldn't be able to keep up.
You say you put your money into United by spending online, what use are most of the things they sell online to you in the middle of Canada?
And my last point, you must have to trust the media somewhat and other peoples opinion living so far away.
mrsteabag 27-08-2008, 09:43 I took the tram from there to the Sty last season ;)

You honestly have no idea about Canada do you :suspect:
Whats all this living so far away nonsense, a good mate of mine whos a grunter wrote a book about flying with the OCS from here, we have TV'S here and believe it or not they show United on them tellys sometimes infact they were on against Birmingham are going to be on against Derby and again when we go to some farm in October ;)
Couldn't keep up as a wednesdayite here though coz they never show them :hihi::hihi:
Good to see you back CB - let me know when you are coming over again to watch the Red & White wizards and we'll go for a pint again

NERVY-OWL 27-08-2008, 20:25 a fan is a fan, even if i'm working i think about whats happening at the game and checking my phone for scores. just because you live 5miles or 5000miles doesnt make you less of a supporter. everyone has different lives to live, some are lucky enough like bb and many others to get to every game and others ony lucky enough to get to a few games a season. i'm sure cb would be at every game if he could, like any fan would
CorkerSWFC 27-08-2008, 20:33 Its all choices life, and cb chose to move away which at the end of the day if he was a "proper" fan he might have chose to get a job over here so he could support the football club he loves so much.
I have worked in Wales and still went to wednesday matches along with supporting Chester City aswell.
I couldn't live in a foreign Country missing something i love so much.
NERVY-OWL 27-08-2008, 20:46 yes corkers but at the end of the day family comes first. cb moved to give his family a better life rather than staying in sheffield on worse money maybe and a poorer life but would get to watch utd week in week out. i doubt i would be able to do what cb did but it wouldnt be not being able to watch wednesday that would stop me and i wouldnt go to a wednesday match if it meant my children going without something they want/need but i dont feel it makes me any less of a fan.
NERVY-OWL 27-08-2008, 20:48 not wanting to get into an argument about this corkers, just wanted to put my point across:thumbsup:

End of the day, I am happy here, you are happy there.
I wouldn't change my standard of living that I have now for anything in the world but that doesn't mean that my heart isn't still at BDTBL every other saturday with the Blades and I dont think of all the family and mates i left behind in Sunny Sheffield.

Canada fella your a great poster 1 of the best, probably one of the many few who can debate without getting out of hand.
Im just a proud Sheffielder m8 it gets hold of me sometimes.
It looks the best place in the world for sure but like i said i lived in wales n felt homesick then.
So i wouldn't stand a chance in Canada, my kids get everything i can possibly give them, they get 5 pairs of shoes to my half a pair,
i haven't got any qualifications and im not likely to jump into a great job at any time.
What i have is morales and roots and that means more to me than anything.

No but also you cant have an opinion about me and my life because you know nothing about me :hihi::hihi:
You have no idea when I left, you have no idea why i left etc etc.
I know nothing about you apart from we support different teams, you live in Gleadless and you post horrible bets for people to lose money at the bookies :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi: But as a poster i like your stuff even for a wednesaday fan
CorkerSWFC 27-08-2008, 21:02 lmao i smiled, only at the end mind.
Im sick of arguing i like to post stats and have a giggle, but i,ll stand up for mi sen till de end lol
canadablade 27-08-2008, 21:04 Canada fella your a great poster 1 of the best, probably one of the many few who can debate without getting out of hand.
Lets sweep this under the carpet and enjoy the season ur a top fella.
Mate I am a proud Sheffielder as well
You think I dont get homesick sometimes, that why i come back every couple of years to see family and matches.
Next time i am over I will buy you a pint and we can "shoot the breeze" as we say in canada all night about the the pros and cons of Toronto and Sheffield
