I've just returned from walking the dogs up Loxley where I spotted a huge multi coloured hot air balloon drifting across the river and woods and was desperately struggling to gain height despite the burner being full on. By the time I'd reached the road it had disappeared so I can only assume that it has crash landed, probably in the Loxley or Wisewood area. Has anyone seen anything of it? Hope all the crew are ok.

There is a company, Dragon Balloons, based in the Hope Valley that do pleasure flights. They have multi coloured balloons that we regularly see crossing over the SE of the City. I suppose the wind dictates which way they go.
Having taken a flight two years ago from the balloon festival at Graves Park, I can definately recommend the flight - and Dragon Balloons. Excellent evening flight that lasted about two hours.Fantastic!!

Well it spends its summer taking off from Endcliffe Park in the early evening, and I saw it this weekend for the first time this year. Not sure if it took off from there though - the park is dug up at the moment.

Saw the same balloon pass high storrs field the other day, was pretty low, they couldn't get enough height no matter what they tried.

I know a guy who used to follow behind in a jeep tracking the balloon until it came down. damn that was interestin :suspect:

Last summer when taking off from Whatstandwell one evening they managed to get about a mile in about an hour, before having to give up and land in our fields because there wasn't enough wind to travel anywhere or help gain enough height.
