Hi poppins, 2 years for you to get a reply. Terry did marry Valerie, he used to live on Gleadless Common opposite Ashleigh School field, as for as I know he now lives at Waterthorpe. My husband used to go to shcool with his son Nigel and often still sees Terry through snooker.

There is other threaads on here about Terry my nan knew him when he was a van lad for Fletchers bakery,he became a manager and stayed there till he retired.

I wonder if he's related to the Ledgers that I knew? I grew up in Gleadless Avenue; across the road lived Bert and Betty Ledger. They had two sons, Philip and David, who would be in their 60s now. David too had a "wonky" eye - caused by a stick poking into it when he was small, I think. Bert is long gone but my "Auntie" Betty still lives in Gleadless.

The Allied Snooker Centre at Townend has named a competition after Terry, by the way.

I knew them both very well, we all use to hang around together in our teens/20s. Bob was a billboard hanger back then, Terry worked for Fletchers, we would all meet up at the City Hall dances.

Thanks ptrA - could you ask Bob's son if there are any photographs of when his dad was best man at my mother and father's wedding. ( the wedding photos were destroyed in a fire - ironic when you think that my dad was a fireman at Brown Street Fire Station during W11)
If anyone has any phots of this Fire Station /firemen at this time I would love to hear from them.
