NEW SERVER NOW OPERATIONAL 21/08/2008
Regular users. Click here to go to UPLOAD PAGE. (http://sheffieldwriters.ath.cx/SFWriters/upload.php)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New to the writer's group?
Once you've got a piece of writing that you wish to upload for other members to read take a
look at this link: Instructions on how to upload. (http://sheffieldwriters.ath.cx/SFWriters/instructions.php)
There are some basic instructions there, and links to the other parts of the system.
Go to the upload page, upload your document and then make a note of the URL that is displayed on the page. This is the link that other writers will click to read the work you have just uploaded. The link will look something like this:
http://sheffieldwriters.ath.cx/SFSto...1209x11219.rtf
(There's nothing on that link, by the way!)
Copy the link and paste it into a post on here to indicate that your work is up.
Usernames and Passwords.
When people click on the link, the system will ask for your username and password. The user name to use is your standard Sheffield Forum user name.
The password is the one sent by 'Personal Message' to you.
Please note that they're both case-sensitive, and be careful differentiating
between 1 and l and 0 and O.
What file formats can be used?
We suggest you upload documents as PDF, DOC, TXT, RTF or HTML. Most people will have the software required to read any of these formats already installed on their PCs, and most text processing programs can export documents in these formats.
If you upload documents in any other format, you can't guarantee that other people will be able to read them.
Can people change my document?
When you download a document it may seem that you can change it and replace the document that's already on the server with the changed document. But you can't. :) The software won't let you.
Copyright.
Don't forget that you must be the copyright owner to upload a document. Also, all documents downloaded are the copyright of the original author, all enquiries about copying, distribution and publication should be made to the original author.
How do I remove a document from the server?
Contact the group leaders and we'll delete it for you.
If you have any problems or questions about the upload / download process, or if you require a password please contact the group leaders.
