Not quite what you're after but I'd suggest contacting a couple of the links and asking them?

check out the british canoe union website there'll be a link to sheff canoe club.

They are at ponds forge one night during the week and have a stretch of the don at oughtibridge on sunday mornings.

The river will be good, low levels and slow. But I'd recommend a couple of sessions in the pool first to practice capsize drill.
