Has anyone ever bought anything from these electrical back of the van stalls, where generally there is a man with a microphone flogging cheap electrical stuff to members of the public. E.g cd players for a tenner or the latest mobile for a fiver. I'm just curious as I was at a seaside market today and I noticed that no money was exchanged for the 10mins that I was standing there.

no, i havent, and no, i wouldn't, basically.

I would not pay fifteen quid for a cardboard box worth pennies.

The money gets exchanged round the back where the kind gentlemen put it into an opaque bag and only give it you once they have your money. There used to be one on Fargate but it disappeared. I knew someone who was daft enough to but a 'hand held game system' that looked suspiciously like a Game Boy when demonstrated by the seller, but turned out to be a cheap LCD game like you get for free from McDonalds when it actually arrived.

Avoid.

some time ago there was a famous one in Scarborough, which was a big fraud and they kept getting shut down by the cops, only to reopen the next day in another shop with a slightly different name.

It appeared to be an auction, but there were agents planted in the audience, and anything of any quality was won by one of the agents, especially if it doesnt go for enough money. Places like this are purely to fleece the gullable, once again of it looks too good to be true then it really is.

My mate got taken in with one of these cowboy one day sales at the coast, some time ago. He Parted with most of their weeks' spending money for a carrier bag containing a personal CD player (actually worth about £25) a cheap (and nasty) watch & some other poundland junk.

He was, and still is mortified.
Especially when I keep telling him about 'FOOLS and their MONEY'

Avoid them. The kindest thing to do when you see one is point and laugh MWUAHAHAHAAHAHARRRR at the suckers. :D

I stood watching them at Ingoldmells market the other week ( I was sat at the cafe opposite) and they rake in loads of cash - whilst I watched they talked a bunch of people to part with just over 200 quid apiece for tat and people seemed eager to do it....great bargain - I don't think....

matsui home cinema centre, ipod , portable dvd player and a xbox being showed doubt thats what they got - suckers!
