They're probably a) rubbish in everyone else's opinion or b) very middle of the road and not original at all... but that aside, has anyone else heard of this group called The Bees? I recently got my hands on their album "Sunshine Hits Me" and quite enjoying it. What genre would you call it? Also anyone similar that I should check out?

i've got a promo from a few years back buried in a heap of CDs somewhere in my house. i liked it at the time, but thought them a bit generic-60's-ish to be honest.

i'd like to say i'll dig it out and have another listen, but i know i wont actually bother :help:

Theres an old Canadian band called Klaatu, they arent bad at all and.. similar (ish) to them.

like i said, it was a while ago i listened to them, and what i mostly remember is beatley-harmonies and stones-y guitars.

maybe i will see if i can find it and have another listen. which means going home and being offline til tomorrow :(

Nice to see you posting Geoff. :)
Yes I like The Bees a lot. Octopus is probably their more famous album and has the wonderous Listening Man on it. They do great videos as well; check out the one to Chicken Payback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hpo954W7z9w) which involves a chinese Elvis impersonator on a dancemachine. Listening man (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Opm-qsGxzNY) is a great video and probably one most men can empathise with.
I would say another band you might like are Vampire Weekend - i can't get enough of them at the moment.

Oxford Comma http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_i1xk07o4g

My favourite Mansard Roof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSOM0tQMNZ8

You might also like some Laura Marling and Mystery Jets. Here they are together.

Napster recommends; Super furry animals (to some extent) Doves (yeah a bit) and the Delays. (Not anything like?) I'd say The Thrills as well might be a bit up your street.

But Vampire weekend and invest in Octopus!

I knew a girl who was friends with them. They're from the Isle Of Wight though so i imagine everyone from there can attempt to claim that.

I have that Bees album but haven't played it for ages. I bought it because I like their cover of Jorge Ben's song "A Minha Menina" which used to run on a telly commercial.

Here it is by Brasil's own Os Mutantes ...

I love The Bees and listen to their albums very often, especially Free The Bees. The Russian, Wash in the Rain and Chicken Payback are my favourite songs. I first got into them when Mark Lamarr used to play their tunes. I used to be big into all that 60s garage stuff like The Sonics.
