My mum is 82 years old and has been a widow for year and half now. She left her bungalow after my dad passed away because she felt there were too many memories and it was too painful to stay there. She moved into sheltered housing and hates it. She has made a few friends but they are obviously all elderly and not very mobile.
She is very depressed, after spending the last 15 years caring for my dad she now is left on her own with nothing to occupy her. The family try to take her out etc but during the week we all work full time. Does anyone know of any clubs or groups in Sheffield 2 area or city centre for pensioners. Ive looked on social services sites but there's nothing of this kind and I dont know who to ask.

Have a look at the Sheffield Help Yourself Database (http://dagda.shef.ac.uk/help%5Fyourself/), use the bottom search option and look for "Clubs for Older People, Postal District 2".

You could also contact Age Concern (http://www.ageconcernsheffield.org.uk/)for further ideas.

There's also the University of the Third Age (http://www.sheffieldu3a.org.uk/), I don't know if there's in a group convenient for S2, but it might be worth enquiring.
