could we have some kind of way of giving feedback if you buy or sell an item on the forum like on ebay etc

I've bought an sold a few items on the forum now and have met some lovely people along the way and have also experienced time wasters, I think it would be nice to leave some kind of feedback for these people

what do you think??

You're forgetting one thing- eBay is not a forum, it's an auction site. Sheffield forum is not an auction site, it's a forum, of which the classifieds is just a small part.

Since there is no bidding process online (as there would be on an auction site) we have no way of recording who is buying an item and therefore who could legitimately comment or give feedback. Without this anyone could leave feedback for anyone else (irrelevant of whether they have actually bought an item from them) and it is inevitable that some people would abuse this system.

Sheffield Forum is not planning on becoming a sales site or auction site and the classifieds are not going to play a bigger part of the forum in the future so it is not likely that any feedback system will be implemented, since we cannot protect whatever system may be brought in from abuse.

Maybe when a classified thread is put up it should be automatically closed...anyone interested can just pm, in effect taking it out from the forum and into private.

Thats a good idea, it will also get rid of thread spoilers, a problem that is getting way too common yet again.

I don't think the forum should be like the "wanted & for sale" ads of a local newspaper.

personally, I like it the way it is, enabling posts asking for pics to be added to the thread or for further information which is useful to everybody viewing the thread

People can easily join under a new username. The postcount is going to be your most accurate way to know someone's for real. Then again not failsafe. We could post a list of people we've bought and sold off though who are genuine.

The forum need to get rid of the "BEST OFFERS" in the for sale section, if they want best offers they should put a price and have a ONO or a OVNO tab. i.e £50 ono.

ohhh - I WISH we could have a blacklist of sheffield forumers who quite blatently are out to waste time.
In the last month I have had 3 people respond to ads......

2 wanted to know when they could collect...........I replied the same day thanking them for their interest and with numerous chioices, even offering to meet in town if it was easier...........and never heard back.

1 would only purchase if I would deliver .... this is after 2 e-mails regardign purchase and collection info then told me he counld not collect i would have to deliver........even tho I had stated collection only in the ad as could not do this.

It is such a waste of time and one of the main reasons I no longer use the forum for my main sale items.

The forsale section is going down hill fast. Lack of information from sellers, and the whole idea of letting them put best offers is bloody stupid cause you give them a offer and get aload of abuse back due to the offer you gave. It should be forum policy again to give a price.

time wasteres.
why do buyers say they want something so you wait in some times all day
and they don't turn up. i've had 3 this week alone. i think feedback would stop this and if you get 3 bad ones you get kick off and they could stop you comeing back on with your ip address.

I've had this loads of times as well and have also stopped using the forum to sell things. I even had people wasting my time with stuff I was giving away!!! How rude is that, I don't understand why they bother getting in touch when they have no intetion of buying!!

i have seen both sides of buying an selling, the only reason im on here is i was looking for a place to leave feedback. people should be warned if your a bad or good person to deal with. if there was some where to post it i would warn people of the last person i bought from.

Timewasters should be named and shamed, they spoil it for the genuine sellers
