I might be a bit thick but is it normal for a cats eyebrows to fall out? I have had my cat for 5 years and never noticed that her eyebrows have got thinner or less until lately. She doesn't seem bothered about it but I am worried.

Have you checked to see she's not been using your bathroom scissors?

She can't have daughter is using them to cut MY hair.

Well, hair on the face of cats does thin out as they get older but if you're concerned it might be worth letting the vet know next time you go in, or even give the vet a quick call.

One possibility is an allergy or a fungal infection. Are the eyes weeping at all? Is there gunk around them?

I've heard of this before (although not specifically eyebrows) and I think Joe's right about allergies.

Have you been using any different cleaning products in the house that she could have come into contact with. Have a think about it - it could be anything that you've changed recently.

If you've had her since she was a kitten 5 years isn't old enough for her age to make any difference - my cat is 13 and she still has the same amount of hair on her face.

Other than that I would have word with the vet as Joe also suggested.

I just have to say the title on this thread really made me smile - I know I shouldn't but it's just one of those things that sounds funny.

Not used anything different. She hasn't any gunk or whatever round her eyes and she is her normal self. It was me that was worried. Wendy I agree with you it does sound funny. If I had read it I would have been in fits never mind about having a smile.

Sometimes mother cats chew off kittens whiskers to punish them (it affects balance I think). It has been known for a familiar and dominant cat to chew off the submissive cats whiskers.
It's only a vague possibility but there all the same.
You could ask if she's been lighting ciggies off the gas ring?
