Ok, maybe not the best title but i couldn't think of what else to put

What are you doing on your wedding day? Are you getting married, having photo's taken then just going straight into your evening do? Or something else? We're really struggling for ideas so i was hoping you lovely people would say you're doing something really good so we could come up with some more ideas to help us out a bit :hihi:

At the moment for us, it's looking like we're going to be getting married about 3pm, having photo's, drinks and a BBQ outside then going inside to have the evening do along with another finger buffet. But then again, it may not be possible to have the BBQ as it'll be October when we get married so it may be a little bit to cold.

What about you lot? :)

Hope this makes sense, as you can tell, i'm a wee bit confused already and the wedding isn't for another 2 years!!! :( :( :(

I worried that my guests would be bored as I get married at 11:30 [ really early] Oct 18th this year.We are having photos after then 30 mins drive to the venue for welcome drinks then the meal. In the evening we are having roast pork sandwiches and bowls of chips DJ for entertainment and also kareoke. I considered magicians and other entertainment for the day guests but after long thought and talking to new brides they tell me it isn't necessary as the day goes so quick.

That's my problem, waddy. I keep thinking people will end up bored :( That's why i've suggested getting married later on in the day, between 2 - 3pm.

We're not to bothered about a sit-down meal but if it was to pass time, i surely would think about it! :help: What are you planning on doing after you've had your meal up until time for the evening do?

Sorry for the 101 questions :hihi:

we were married at 2.30, emptied out into the hotel foyer (hotel carefully chosen for lounging space), we had our photos taken whilst our guests were entertained by mellow sax player, kids ran about in the ample space, people had drinks and mingled (some hadn't seen each other since my parents married)

We went into the meal which we'd arranged would be the silver service meal but served as a served buffet so as not to be too formal and to encourage mingling. group photos were taken at these tables to limit faffing and over organisation, again keeping it less formal. Tables were round but top table was rectangular. Round tables set with spaces so as to not enclose people into huddles but still encourage chat. Somebody instigated an easter egg hunt but only included the kids from their own side of the family - but that was an attention attempt as her boyfriend still has no intention of officially making her part of our family :P Disco started straight after meal, people disappeared to change, or not, mingled, meandered through hotel grounds....

it'll be fine - you actually have to worry about everybody else far less than you think, and the more you fuss over them the less they appreciate it ;)

we were gluttons for punishment - we turned the whole thing inside out

we went to Scotland for two weeks, the wedding was in the middle weekend, the hen/stag thing was a clay pigeon shooting and quadbiking day nearby with a sit down meal at the hotel that night

everybody was invited to as much or as little as they wanted to take part in, so guests arrived throughout week one, which was great as they could let off that steam people always bring to weddings (you know the things that always start the fisticuffs  ), we threw out all the things that make people edgy - like the church and the silver service, but kept the things we thought important like the minister and the great food

Guest were asked to wear their 'best party frock' - so we had a great mix of whatever anybody wanted to wear instead of people feeling uncomfortable in an imposed dress code - and I took my skirt off for the evening and slung a pair of jeans on with my white leather corset and matching boots :D

Just make sure everybody knows what you're planning so they dont have to feel nervous on the day, and know what to wear (if for instance you're having a barbeque on a lawn, remind the ladies they may want to bring suitable footwear ;) )

Hi, i am getting married at church (9 days to go) at 16:30 down to the reception around
17:45 canapes and champagne and evening reception starting at 18:30 hot buffet being served at 19:00, we couldn't afford to have a sit down meal for the amount of guests we wanted to invite, so decided on church and a big party :-)

I hope that you all have a smashing day whatever you choose to do on the day itself. My late wife and I had a lovely day and 29 years thereafter.:thumbsup:

We went to a friend's wedding with a similar format

the dress code was evening gowns and black ties

they served chip butties at 11pm though :D

We have gone down the traditional route, wedding meal evening etc but to stave off the boredom while the change the room around for the evening we are getting our local pub DJ to come and do an couple of hours of karaoke. Cheesy I know but we have enough mates who are into it to create a good laugh for the rest of the guests and those that really don’t like it can go to other areas of the venue. I did consider leaving some daft card games or something about in the bar though just to give them something to do.

my cousins wedding was similar except they served bacon butties for the evening buffet/snack. I have never been to a wedding where all the night food was eaten before!

On my wedding day we got married on the beach at 5.30am, then went for breakfast in a 5 star hotel, then hired a car and drove round Oahu island, then back for evening meal in a different 5 star hotel. Long day but very memorable.

we're getting married at 2.30pm, having photos in the winter gardens (dec wedding so peace gardens are out!) then walking to a restaurant in town. There will be welcome drinks straight away then we'll have speeches and the cutting of the cake (its being served as dessert) then the main sit down meal, a magician and then a disco and karaoke :)

Cherish every moment and do not worry people will not be bored. I got married in July at 3pm. We gave people an order of the day, so they knew what was happening at what times. We had 30 mins to get to the reception venue where canapes and Pimms were served. People just mingled which was nice We sat down to eat at around 6. The band started playing at 8.30 and then we had a Disco from 10 onwards.

It was such a great day and I spent over a year worrying about it. :)

Sounds lovely that, cazbar79. :)

We're getting married at 2.30pm so now we've just got to put a few ideas together as to what we're going to do after.
