I used to go with friends mainly from woodseats and jordanthorpe areas .

Used to go loads about same time as you, used to love it there. There was a group of about 8 of us that went and when we were skint we used to take it in turns pretending it was one of our hen nights so that we would get free drinks, ahh those were the days!

used to go to josies on a wednesday night,paul smith and chris were on the door,the bloke i used to go with was called richard stacey,also a doorman,his sister and her mate,caroline,worked behind the bar.

used to love scamps,not keen on josephines,was between 1976-79 and scamps had a relaxed dress code,spent my 21st birthday in there before enjoying the rest of the evening at west bar..£10 for being d and d,well it was my birthday..happy days..

i am now 53 and male,loved the mid to late seventes and the punk scene,latterly made the limit my home but still had fond memories of scamps.....when sheffield had real pubs and clubs..

Josephines opened on November 6th 1976 same night as Mulberry Tavern (both now closed) Dave Allen opened Josies and Mick Lee was first manager of Mulberry. I worked behind the bar for Mick for a few years. At the end of the night we would go to either Josies or Scamps. When I think back these were fantastic times. I remember Georgie Fame, Eric Clapton, Tom Mcguinness coming into Mulberry to see Mick. Clapton had kicked drugs but wqs drinking heavily and Mick made him stand at the end of the bar drinking water. loved josies.dave allen used to pay for all the ladies to go to ascot,does anyone remember the VIP night once a year what a spread of food was put on.i still have a pair of josephines champagne flutes given for the 10yr anniversary.:love:

I worked briefly for Mick in the Mulberry too. I virtually lived in Scamps in the early 70's celebrating my 18th there and many other occasions and latterly Josephines where I had my 21st, hen night, and leaving Sheffield do. Went back a few times when back in town the last time being about 24 years ago

we used to stand in the wine bar , top hat of champers and a jug of fresh orange , the sue's seem to ring a bell . where in spain was she I also lived in spain for a while .

jayne only worked there for about 6 months , she also worked at griffin house for the midland bank .

Being a regular at Scamps was almost as good as it gets. Monday nights were for chillin and full of girls without their boyfriends. Then friday and Saturday bring on the Woodseats lads and Intake girls. Saturday Night fever and Back in the Night. Tommy Rocknroller on the door. Luggy, Sisso, The Doshers, Mivvy, Gus, Kev R and many more. A smooch to The Floaters Float On. Remember an attractive barmaid who`d split up from one of Utd`s young Scottish footballers looking after us with cheap drinks. Bouncers from Bier Cellar next door were a pain they should have stayed singing Ein Prosit with Herr Sykes. Chipshop near Hermitage finished the night off. Ace taxis, taxi for Batemoor.

anyone remember dave chandler,dj.he's a presenter on spectrum fm spain.he lives in ibiza these days as an agent for entertainers.he did sunday nights, dj nights, for our music venue in sta eulalia,ibiza during the summer season.....still fantastic!

knew him well...he also had a video shop at the end of eccy road.also involved with pascha(spelling!!??)in rotherham.

I was on holiday in Costa Blanca Spain and sat in a bar when I heard this voice I remember coming out of the radio which was playing. What a shock!
It was The Dave Chandler Radio Show.....
I enquired at the bar and apparently his show is very popular with all the ex pats over there and it’s on every Saturday & Sunday 10.00.am till 2.00.pm.
I just sat there amazed to hear that voice again bringing back memories of Josies. I decided to find out more and I rang the station but they would only give me his e-mail address davechandlermusic@gmail.com I now still listen every weekend back here in Sheffield using the internet from the radio station web site: spectrumradio.es
Good to hear all the stuff he used to play in Josies again….
