www.manheimeurope.com
Check your local Cop shop, they sometimes have auctions of confiscated and/or unclaimed cars.
alchresearch 29-04-2005, 20:09 Bawtry Auction on a Friday night used to be a good source for a cheap car.
The Chesterfield one is on a Friday too, but there may be an auction in the afternoons, I think it used to be Wednesday.
SlimboyFat 29-04-2005, 22:43 If you can, or know somebody who can repair cars theres a Online Auction at www.raw2k.co.uk .
The cars are stored at yards around the country which include Rotherham, Nottingham and Blackburn.
sparklesista 02-05-2005, 18:09 Thank you soo much for all your help guys and girls! :)
Do you have to be a registered car trader to go to the Manheim Auctions or not?
Don't the Police sometimes have auctions of unclaimed or confiscated cars?
You could try one of the main stations down Town such as Snig Hill or West Bar and ask.
sparklesista 02-05-2005, 18:27 All their cars would be brand new though, wouldn't they?
I just can't afford a brand new car at the moment - I have too many shopping expenses ;) :D
sparklesista 02-05-2005, 18:31 Where's the Bawtry auction and when is it on?
Does anyone know if they have a website or telephone number?
Thanks :)

1Man&hisBMW 02-05-2005, 18:34 Hi SS!
You tired of the 306 already? :D
sparklesista 02-05-2005, 18:36 No, the 306 I told you about went last night to someone else!
The cheek of it! So, I'm still on the look out :(
I'm looking for a car too... and its starting to drive me nuts, always gone by the time you call! I've checked out the Bawtry auction and it seems to be for dealers only. Is this the one you meant Flossy? Does anyone know an auction that isnt just for dealers?
evildrneil 02-05-2005, 18:59 Theres some very good deals on MGs and Rovers at the mo if you fancy one of those!

Oops what happened with it? Were you gazumped?
Do you mean new MGs and Rovers? Where should I look for these good deals? I fancied a Nissan Micra as their cheap and cheerful to run, but open to advice.

While we were out drinking yesterday someone rang up and offered more for the car so he sold it there and then!
I couldn't believe it - I was going to pay in full by cash and pick it up the next day (today) as well. I'm sooo upset! :(

I know how you feel ddolly, it's driving me nuts as well!
I'll keep a look out for a nissan micra for you if you keep an eye out for a peugeot 306 for me! ;)
I'm going to take a trip to the Bawtry auction on Wednesday if you fancy coming along? :)

Almost anywhere that sells them - since Rover going belly up you can probably pick them up for 1/2 to 2/3rds of the original price. You are taking a risk but there should be enough private specialists / parts stock to keep them going for as long as you have the car. However stick with the MGF, MGT, MG-ZS, MG-ZT and the Rover 75 - the others are probably worth avoiding however good the deal!

but in the end, their still crap :)
Hi sparklesista,
I'll definately keep an eye out for you, my boyfriends got a Peugeot and had an unhealthy interest in them, so always pointing them out in the paper etc. He's got a 106 which is alway breaking down but have heard the desiel 306 is much more reliable. I'll see if we can drag him along to the auction cause he knows what the insides of a car should look like. What time are you planning to visit the auction on wed? I'm on nights that day so would be free till 4pm. I've really gotta get a car soon, the bus journey to work is painfully long!

This is more hearsay than anything, friend of a friend told me you can get Rovers half price now, blah blah blah. The word on the Rover forums is no-one has actually seen them anymore than 10% off anywhere.
Skatiechik 03-05-2005, 12:13 The one at Bawtry I found to be fairly upmarket (£1000 and above for cars). Where is the best auction for what would be deemed a banger? Say £0-£200?

No? - I saw a batch in the local paper over the weekend from the major dealer just outside town (can't remember the name) at rather more than 10 percent off!
Skatiechik 03-05-2005, 12:19 Ecclesfield, Rotherham or the one near Waitrose?
evildrneil 03-05-2005, 12:26 The one near waitrose - can't remember the name but also does SAAB, Noble, Lotus and a few others
That Rover place behind the Pomona on Eccy road has a big billboard about MG-ZR for £6995 - £5k off list price for delivery miles only.
Never read the small print if there is any?
There's one just off the A61, Chesterfield Bypass, opposite Tesco.
jaffacake 03-05-2005, 18:58 Anybody can buy a car from Manheim auctions and it is very easy to do. They have cars ranging from a couple of hundred pounds to a few thousands depending on what you are looking for. We got our car from there and have not been disappointed.

Yeah they are... its just a coincidence they are the worlds No.1 mass engine producer, and Rover has gone down faster then a lead balloon.... very good one that, keep em coming! :D
Hey sparklesista,
There are a couple of 306's in tonights Star, which might have made it online to motorstoday too. I did spot a micra, but its gone already!!
sparklesista 03-05-2005, 20:22 Oh no! Thanks for letting me know about the 306's.
Have you tried looking on the exchange and mart? :)
No I havent, do you mean the website? I've tried auto trader, admag, loot, abay and motors today, if you've got any other ideas let me know.
Bikertec 03-05-2005, 20:44 Someone asked about Bawtry auctions well heres the web site.

sparklesista 03-05-2005, 20:45 1Man&hisBMW gave me www.findit.co.uk as well. :)
Just had a word with me bloke and he's free to go to the auction on Friday, perhaps we can meet up there?
