View Full Version : Dubstep music anyone?
NEKRO138 18-08-2008, 12:57 I know from the going out section that there's a few fans of dubstep on here. I'm fairly new to it but have been listening to it a lot recently. Had Burial, Skream and Kode 9 on a moment ago. Anyone got any recommendations? I've got a few of the Dubstep Allstars albums and they're good as is the Mary Anne Hobbs compilation, Warrior Dubz.

marksherbert 19-08-2008, 00:27 Burials new record will be massive. And no its not Aphex Twin
NEKRO138 19-08-2008, 08:15 I reckon Burial's just a man who's a nobody and decided to make some music without promoting himself. Simple as that. But he's very good!
NEKRO138 19-08-2008, 08:20 Venetian Snares has done a 10" with two Black Sabbath covers that are very dubby. And very good! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2lERJEU0no

But he's very good!He revealed who he was on his myspace blog - plus a picture. His names Will Bevan. (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=60968411&blogID=421408328)
NEKRO138 19-08-2008, 11:40 He's right, it doesn't matter who you are. Just shows how eager everyone is to put a face and name to something!
Box of dub is a great compilation
Skreamizm vol 4
Dan_Random 20-08-2008, 00:59 Check out local guy Roguestate for some heavy heavy bizness
Check out some Benga and some Kromestar:thumbsup:
NEKRO138 22-08-2008, 18:28 I've been listening to Box Cutter's album Glyphix today. As much as I like Burial, I think is my favourite dubstep album. Everyone on this thread must get it.
Let me know what you think.
roobarbpie 24-08-2008, 20:22 I know nothing about Dubstep at all :hihi: but I know a man who does.
Here's his blog: http://blog.grievousangel.net/?page_id=379
Mary Anne Hobbs plays his stuff.....

Agreed, a top album. Various tempos etc....
I like dubstep, but for some reason I also find it extremely limited/hindered by it's tempo/timeframe/structure. Much more than other electronic genres.
It might be age catching up with me, I dunno, but can't listen to more than about 3 tracks of it in a row.
NEKRO138 26-08-2008, 08:43 I have to be a in a certain mood. I work in an environment where I can listen to music so it's good music to work to. Or if I'm reading or something. I'm a man, so I can't multi-task. This means I need music with few lyrics when reading or I get confused!
Just discovered some older stuff I had.
Kromestar- definitely produced slightly differently to most other dubstep.
