How do you programme a computer so it says Hello when it starts up and goodbye when it closers down. :thumbsup: Jon
( I have windows XP btw)

Find yourself a clip that says Hello and one that says Goodbye. They will need to be in .wav format. Then go to control panel double click on sounds, then on the sound tab. Find the one called Exit windows click browse and select your goodbye sound. Repeat for the one called Start Windows.

You can probably find what you need here - http://simplythebest.net/sounds/WAV/events_WAV/index.html some good wav files there, I think I would go for Anne Robinson saying "You are the weekest link goodbye" if i were you, for added comic effect! :clap:

You can type in anything you want and it will give you a link to a wav recording computerised voice download of what you just typed. You can choose from several different voices.

As well as hello, goodbye etc you can assign stuff like "you have new mail", "you have a message" (for msn), etc, etc all with the same voice. I had it on my laptop for a while but it becomes annoying :)

You can also set Nero to play the sound of a till going "kaching" every time it finishes a cd hehe.

Fab programme that reads the text on websites - doesnt make a bad job of reading things such as the Currys website and that of the BBC News :thumbsup:

A mate of mine used to work with a bunch of jokers and one of them used to attach a 20 minute soundfile to the windows startup and closedown sounds of other people's PCs to annoy them.
This is really frustrating, as the machine will not switch off untill it's played every last note of the sound. And takes a considerable time to come ready.
