Olliekitten 17-08-2008, 08:48 PM While we were having a walk in Bole Hill park, Petie got bitten by another dog. I didnt realise that he'd actually been hurt till we got him home.
He has been bitten very close to his scrotum, and there are two puncture wounds. I have bathed it and put some sudocrem on it as it is an antiseptic.
I will take him to the ets in the morning but wanted to know if there is anything I can do in the mean time?
Thanks
Lotti 17-08-2008, 09:01 PM I wouldn't have thought so really... is it bleeding? Is it bothering him particularly?
Don't worry if he licks it - but try not to let him lick it excessively. A bit of licking may help but too much could make it a bit worse.
I don't think the vets will do anything unless it looks to be infected which you'll obviously need antibiotics for but if the wounds are not deep or torn then they will probably leave them to heal over.
Good luck tomorrow - hugs to Petie.
wondertec 17-08-2008, 09:13 PM Aah, bless him. Same as what you've already done. keep an eye on it and keep it clean, vets if you're worried.
Big hugs to petie and mummy.x.
I3lade4life 17-08-2008, 09:21 PM How do you know if it was another dog?
Lotti 17-08-2008, 09:29 PM Eh?? I don't understand... I'm sure Olliekitten knows what another dog looks like when it bites hers!
I3lade4life 17-08-2008, 09:32 PM my apologies, i thought when she said she hadnt realised till she got home, she meant she hadnt seen the incident. I just wondered if it was another animal or something else????
Olliekitten 17-08-2008, 09:44 PM No, I did see the incident but when I looked him over at the park he seemed fine. Poor boy. He seems fine in himself though, bless him.
shihtzumad 17-08-2008, 10:11 PM Bless poor petie, i hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Just make sure it stays clean, am sure he will be fine,
(((((((petie)))))))
squeakyclean 17-08-2008, 10:41 PM Ahh poor Petie puddle, I am sure he will be fine, just keep an eye on the wound.
estweyn 18-08-2008, 11:33 AM Poor old lad being bit on the b----!
You did just the right thing tho, I would imagine the capacity for swelling in this area is a bit more than would be if it was the leg or whatever.
Let us know how he gets on..

shihtzumad 18-08-2008, 01:02 PM hows petie today
Olliekitten 19-08-2008, 01:07 AM Petie is doing fine. He is much tougher than his older brother Bailey who has a massive trauma if he gets a burr on his paw let alone a bite to the old spuds :)

D got bit this Sunday, and dispite looking at the time i've only just noticed he's got three puncture wounds on his back leg. I feel so cruel as I make him wear a muzzle so he could not protect himself and he was on lead at the time.
It's so hard as I know he would bite other dogs firsteven if they just ran up for a quick sniff if was not for the muzzle. I had to kick the other dog hard to get it off, but it ran once I did that. Felt bad doing that too :(
The wounds have scabbed up nicely and are not red so I'm guessing they are ok. I'll just have to keep an eye on it. He does not seem to have noticed and did not even yelp at the time and carried on his walk happily, thats why I thought the other dog had not broken the skin.
