Hi, we got given one as a wedding gift, and it is ok, but I much prefer a normal wok on a gas hob, you can control the heat a lot better and a wok needs to stay really hot otherwise you're not 'frying' the food. If you have an electric hob, then it would probably be better than a normal wok. Just my opinion! *Wallace* 18-08-2008, 07:23 Wouldn't be without my woks have 2 both cost a few pounds from the chinese shop, never tried an electric one. Bago 09-11-2008, 20:50 Hm... even if you get an electric wok, you have to use it differently to a gas wok. Like, heating on it for longer, and you cannot cook thicker pieces of meat, so if you want the same stir-fried effect, you have to cut your ingredients into thinner pieces etc. Things like that. Also, don't overload the wok with too much ingredients, cos then you will spread the heat too much, and it will come out more soggy. shihtzumad 17-11-2008, 18:18 I decided to stick to my wok and didn't get a electric one arkwright 17-11-2008, 23:29 ive got a huge cast iron 1 & a normal hob 1.i love them both, but im not a fan of electric cooking.however,i once worked with a guy that swore blind by his electric wok & said that they were fantastic. |
