Its official, the old arbourthorne school which I and other generations of mine went to has been reduced to rubble. Does anyone know if there is an photographic archive anywhere with pictures of the school in days gone by? Either on the net or anywhere in sheff.
Thanks

Whilst it's clearly going to bring back memories for some people, and old pupils in particular, the old school was crowded, and didn't meet the needs of pupils.
The headtecher and staff are dedicated, and doing a wonderful job educating the young children of Arbourthorne. Now they have the opportunity of doing so in a brand new school building. Can't wait for the official opening - looking forward to an invite.
Gazp [and any one else ?]
A few of us have been posting about Woodthorpe school , which has also sadly been knocked down and is being rebuilt.
What puzzles me is why do they have to knock schools down which I guess were built in the '30's and yet a lot of the schools still going strong were built in the 19th. century. Is it the type of building material used ?
No-one answered on the "Woodthorpe " posts yet. I am genuinely puzzled !

this is it, patch...
we need to have the best environments possible for the kids to give them the best opportunity to learn and develop.
Redrobbo was telling me, the other night at he meet, what a wonderful enviroinment the brand new Norfolk Primary School is, and how much better it is compared to the old Bluestone and Norfolk Schools.
if the new Arbourthorne school is hlaf as good as Norfolk is, then it will be fantastic.
