I have three old vinyl albums that I have never been able to find on CD or a (legal) download. They are a Demon records sampler called From Hell to Obscurity,Straight to Hell a film soundtrack featuring Joe Strummer and The Pogues (amongst others) and That Summer, a 70's British B movie (c**p film ,great punk/new wave soundtrack. Anyone know if any of these are available or if any companies convert vinyl to digital or any who rent out those USB turntables ?

It doesn't but nice to here from you anyway. We're over your way at the weekend.
My dad just plugged his into his PC via his amp and recorded that way, he's in the same situation with vinyl that isn't available on CD :)

Surely if you own the vinyls, you should be able to download them from anywhere you like.

If you've got a turntable/amp with a headphone socket, and an PC with a normal mic/input socket (most have) - all you need is this:
Vinyl-To-MP3-Kit (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Transfer-Convert-LP-Vinyl-Tapes-to-PC-iPod-CD-MP3_W0QQitemZ260273951028QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item2 60273951028&_trkparms=72%3A1121%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&timeout=1218806918852)
Hope this helps... :)

Straight to Hell a film soundtrack featuring Joe Strummer and The Pogues (amongst others)
If you want this on CD there is an item available at Amazon UK called "Straight To Hell Returns" which looks like a remastered and expanded version of the soundtrack. It's £9.98 and there are three copies left in stock at the moment.

If it can be done as easy as that what is the advantage of USB turntables ?

You can buy the straight to hell sountrack on cd. Its available on Play and tower records (and ebay too). But the USB turtable will work too.

Many laptops don't have any audio in ports so the usb input takes care of that.

To those who make and sell them plenty.
If you've got Nero or similar CD Burning software it will almost definitely have a basic Wav Editor program which will be able to record. If you haven't try something like mp3directcut (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/mp3_tools/mp3directcut.cfm)which is a basic freeware audio editor and recorder.
Assuming you've got some decks you just need to go into either the line in or microphone input on your soundcard, then select the input and adjust the level in your audio settings. If you haven't already got one you can get a phono to 3.5mm cable for a few quid from Maplins or similar.
