It will tell you all you want to know. It will tell you all, if any, calaberations by The Beach Boys and Charles Mille Manson JoeP 28-04-2005, 13:27 Hiya, The most famous was called (I think) 'Never Learn to Love' and was a B side. I'm not sure about the others - they were all, I think, collaborations with Dennis Wilson. manson had a real thing about musicians - his 'Helter Skelter' movement was named for a Beatles song. Joe Jon 28-04-2005, 13:32  Thanks guys for your help. I'm going to check out Dennis Wilson albums and do a search on the net. If anyone else has any information about which album or singles i should be looking for could you please let me know  thanks Jon LordSnooty 28-04-2005, 16:43 The CD you require is the Friends/20-20 'twofer' issued in the mid 'nineties. It contains both of Dennis Wilson's collaborations with the charming Mr Manson (they're rubbish). There are no other DW/CM collaborations in the public domain ie legally available. There are informative sleevenotes with the CD mentioned above, you can usually get it for a mere £5 from Fopp, and you get the 'Friends' LP, which is their most enjoyable after Pet Sounds, in my humble...... LordSnooty 28-04-2005, 16:44 Dennis Wilson made only one album, 'Pacific Ocean Blue' released in 1977 and very well reviewed. I have never heard it and it has been unobtainable for eons. If you get hold of a copy, please let me know! Jon 28-04-2005, 17:25 Originally posted by LordSnooty Dennis Wilson made only one album, 'Pacific Ocean Blue' released in 1977 and very well reviewed. I had an old LP of Pacific Ocean Blue, but it was broken when we moved. I am SO sorry! My other precious possession is my old Endless Summer LP, as I am a big Beach Boys fan. I was fortunate to have seen the Beach Boys twice, once in '76 (when Dennis Wilson was still alive) and again in about '81 at Lake Tahoe. Although by that time, his drug and drink problems had really taken a toll on him, and he had stopped touring. I heard one critic say that all Beach Boys songs were the same. Girls, cars, and food...all fast. Since I am from California, I can say that they sang about real life for teenagers at that time. Things really were like their songs. My friends and I hung out at the beach, (Santa Cruz) fooled around with surf boards (surfing is MUCH harder than it looks, and a good surfer makes it look effortless) cruised main street, rode dirt bikes in the hills, and at night watched impromptu drag races on Old Ranch Road, with cars driven by boys who had more money than sense. Since it was the seventies, there was always a kegger and someone always had pot. I met my future husband at one of these informal gatherings when we were teenagers. That time and place was special, it was unique. A bubble in time that was perfectly captured by the Beach Boys. :) Sierra http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000008MDK/104-7897695-8283917?v=glance Now that I see what it's going for, I feel a little sick. http://rateyourmusic.com/view_albums/artist_id_is_2246 mojoworking 28-04-2005, 22:54 Dennis Wilson befriended the Manson family for a while in 1968. One of the songs Manson wrote at that time was called Cease To Exist. The band changed it around and re-titled it Never Learn Not To Love. It appeared on the Beach Boys album 20/20 |
