Officers investigating two incidents of assault in Sheffield are appealing for information from the public.

Both incidents occurred on Saturday 16 April and police believe they are linked.

The first was at 10pm near a chip shop on the High Street of Ecclesfield, where a 17 year old man was assaulted by a group of men carrying metal bars.

The second incident was at 10:30pm on Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, where another 17 year old man was also assaulted.

In both cases, the offenders beat their victims to the floor and attempted to stamp on their heads, leaving them with extensive bruising and lacerations. Both assaults were apparently unprovoked and occurred without warning.

Both victims describe a group of around six men, all aged between 16 and 18 years. The offenders left both scenes using a small white car, which had distinctive modified headlights, described as 'bug-like?.

Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help with their enquiries. Please phone PC Nathan Wheelhouse at Ecclesfield Police Station on 0114 296 4755 , or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
