View Full Version : Wanted swim/gym/walking/dance buddy
Hi I'm 43, female and reasonably fit but really want a buddy (m/f) to put some fun back into the whole thing! I work from home so I'm around during the day as well as evenings and I'd love someone to go swimming with, chat to as we use the gym and compare results (lol), a partner for dancing (don't know what kind, it's a long time since I did any, but there's so much around it seems a shame to miss out!) or maybe some good long walks over the moors. And nope, you wouldn't have to fill all the slots if you didn't want to! Someone to do something (anything) with would be great..
I'm serious about getting fitter, leaner etc and don't expect to be calling for chips on the way home btw, tho a glass of wine occasionally wouldn't go amiss! My gym membership has just lapsed (ahem, due to lack of continued interest and boredom with no-one to talk to) so I'm free to join your gym if you want some company and motivation on a regular basis.
Doesn't really matter where you live within reason, but I live south Sheffield (Norton). PM me please if you're interested? Thanks!
PS Or can you think of a friend? Or someone at work?
Not that I'm desperate or anything.......... :)
K I'm posting again just to get higher up the list. I don't believe there is no-one who is interested...just that they haven't yet seen this............!!!

I don't believe there is no-one who is interested...just that they haven't yet seen this............!!! i go to the gym 3 times aweek mon, wed, fri at hillsbrough centre 40min in gym 1 hour swim and 20 min in the steam room, and do i feel better for it?? no im F'in cream nacked, and i go on my own, and i can talk to everyone or no one at all, its what you put in to it what counts!:gag: get a place you like and take it from there... the world awaits.... or in my case my arse is on the floor im too nacked to be arsed!
Lol madowl......I appreciate what you mean about you get out what you put in but after a while you start to feel like Norma Nomates, or like the weirdo on the bus. Y'know, when you're forever striking up conversations with strangers? Maybe you don't lol but it gets to me after a while. I've just left my gym after eighteen months so I have given it a decent go....
And, sides, sometimes I just want to chat with someone I know. And I'd like someone to make arrangements with, then I won't let them down.
It's too easy to not go if no-one knows you're supposed to be going. Hey did I say I was highly motivated right now? :D
But good luck with your own exercise programme, buddy. Sounds like it's doing you good hehe
Hi, SHsheff. I know just what you mean. I feel really positive about "getting out there", but after a while, being on yer tod gets a bit much. Can't really help in a practical way - I'm other side of City, (I have a self imposed barrier beyond Meadowhall) but this reply will keep us both near the top of the mailings, and saves me starting another thread. So if there's anyone age 40+, Rotherham side, wants a buddy for dance, karaoke, theatre, concerts, gigs, post it here. (Not into sport so much - but yoga and walking great)
Because I am Norton I have PM'd you!!
:)

So..where do you want to walk? I list hill walking as one of my likes! And you can't do that in Rotherham (not in the same way, anyway lol) But thanks for the posting - as you say, keeps us both at the top of the list. And that can't be bad

Yup, and thank you for it. I have PM'd you back....
Just to let you know I've also started a thread in General Sheffield Chat to expose the appeal to a wider audience! (tho a big thanks to all who've contributed so far.
Both threads are back on here. Ho hum. Rotten jobsworth robot bot!
However.....I've started running (I use the term loosely - don't want to give the impression I can canter for mile after carefree mile like some sprightly young gazelle 'cos that would be highly misleading) but it's a start all the same. And more fun doing it in parks than on a boring treadmill in a stuffy gym. Arguably. Until it rains.
And this morning I did an hour's salsa-exercise class which was rather fun and gives me plenty of scope for improvement on the technical footwork front, and then I went for a forty-length swim down at Heeley, dodging gossiping grandads loitering in the shallow end for the first half hour until they strangely disappeared leaving the pool to a mere handful of us.
So........anyone else want to join in? Cummon, don't miss the fitness boat! I can feel myself getting fitter and thinner just typing this..(in my dreams lol).
Thanks be to those who have PM'd me already, btw, and I'm looking forward to linking up with you where appropriate.
I hope to be seeing madowl down at that Hillsboro' gym one of these days - next week, madowl, if you're around? I'm off in a few mins to join up at Graves leisure centre. I believe that'll give me free access to all your equipment (if you'll pardon the expression) :heyhey: and I look forward to trying it out......
