My cats prefer biscuits. I put them cat food down daily too, but they just nibble at that, and prefer to gobble their biscuits. The only worry I have is that they don't drink all that much. I've tried cat milk and they have water dotted around the house in bowls. Does anyone else have this with their cats? Someone once told me to wet your hands then stroke your cat to make their coat wet and then they will lick themselves clean, and ingest some water through that.
They'll drink if they're thirsty :)
My cats have never drunk huge amounts but still have dry kibble as opposed to tinned meat.
Do they go outside? They may well drink from somewhere outside. Mine only usually end up having one small bowl of water a day, sometimes two and I just refill it when they drink it but they never have it refilled more than once a day because they just never drink enough.
As long as they have the option and not drinking much isn't a new thing I wouldn't worry.
My lot live on an entirely dry diet. They live mostly indoors and they drink gallons- I refill their huge water bowl every couple of days, but they also drink from the dog's big water bowls.
As Lotti says, as long as they have access to clean drinking water I wouldn't worry too much about it- cats have fabulously efficient kidneys.
I have 2 cats and a dog, they all share one big water bowl. But my elderly cat ( 22 Years ! ) prefers to drink from the pond ! She prefers to crunch buiscuits...but she dosent have any teeth...just exposed jaw bone.
Cats are funny sods and will do what they want anyway :)
I wouldnt worry about it.
My cat hardly seems to drink at all - but usually if he does it's from the toilet or kitchen sink (if dishes are left with water in them) - :-( I presume he must drink outside some where - he seems fit and healthy tho and if you're cat is running round like normal, he must be getting enough water!

Sometimes cats are funny if they can't get their whole head in a bowl including their whiskers which is why dog bowls are often better for cats.
My two have a bowl of water a day and it's very rare that when i come to change it at the end of the day or in the morning that it's empty.
Saying that, any chance to drink anywhere else and they are off. They both love the bathroom sink tap and will crook their head under to drink from it. If i've left it slightly askew they will knock it to make it come on and drip.
Also I have to take a bottle of water to bed rather than a glass as I have been known to be woken by 1/2 a pint of water being knocked onto me as an irate kitty has got its head wedged into a pint glass.
They don't like cat milk at all and although i know it's bad for them don't like cow's milk either but yet they love it once it's had cereal in it??

Hehe Ginger LOVES drinking from pint glasses, I ahve a photo of her doing it if I can get haddock to helpme put it up:hihi:
She also loves to get into the bath when I've had a shower and drink from that.
Last night, April was found lapping blue milk from a wine glass (tradition in our house, throwback from our first date:hihi: )
Anyway, what I'm actually getting round to saynig is just exactly what everyone else has said-if they are thisty, and have access to water, they will drink. My three are on an entirely dry diet and they don't drink that much either really.

Thanks for your help. They do have access to water at all times, but they choose to drink out if a jug in the bath!! Chico likes to drink rain water out of an empty flower pot outside. It's nice to know it's not just my cats who are strange little beings!!:hihi:
