View Full Version : Best chase in a film?
I was wondering what everyones favourite chase is in a film, be it car, boat, spaceship, on foot?
A couple of mine are....
1. Neo being chased by Agent Smith on foot in the Matrix
2. Car chase in Ronin
3. Car chase in Bourne Identity
EdnaKrabappe 11-08-2008, 22:53 River Phoenix as Indiana Jones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzqJkdRK2To)
North by Northwest Cary Grant's plane scene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g458w2X9uHc)
Mills chases John Doe - Brad Pitt actually injured himself doing this scene for real (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXuK0b_yM5M)
The stunning foot chase that opens the 2007 'Casino Royale', probably the best Bond [chase] sequence ever.
The car chase in 'Bellman + True', a little known but quite exceptional film. The film that made me understand what the term 'edge of seat suspense' really meant.
got to be the one in the blues brothers:)
The parallel good guy/bad guy downhill high speed run through the hillside drug factories in Bad Boys II, and the boat-dodging, car-flipping road sequence in the same film.
The BadBoys II chase through the factories is simply a copy of a more impressive Jackie Chan film sequence from 1985. A common tactic in hollywood.
The Crane chase/street demolition in Terminator 3 is similarly very impressive in it's sheer destruction. Especially as it also appears to be done for 'real', i.e. no CGI.

Don't care, it was still fantastic :D . It also had the added bonus that I didn't have to sit through several interminable hours of martial arts nonsense to get to it.
EdnaKrabappe 12-08-2008, 18:02 The chase in Wanted, the current James McAvoy film is pretty good.
I can never remember car ones.
Alastair 12-08-2008, 18:07 Mad Max 1 or Mad Max 2 - any of the chases.
Don't care, it was still fantastic :D . It also had the added bonus that I didn't have to sit through several interminable hours of martial arts nonsense to get to it.It was the opening scene I believe and instead you had to sit through a very weak, poorly scripted and genarally dreadful sequel to see an inferior copy of something quite original. It's not so fantastic if you saw something better many years before.

You're still annoyed from the 'what films don't you want to see?' thread, aren't you? :hihi:
That's a very foolish assumption. The facts about bad Boys II and my opinions about the film are nothing to do with that thread.

No, it was a joke, hence the smilie. Chill :P .

discodown 14-08-2008, 17:37 Surely the foot chase in Point Break should get a mention?
NEKRO138 15-08-2008, 10:29 French Connection for me!

The car chases in Ronin get my vote.
Totally agree, the driving was awesome. I'd add The Italian Job, both versions.
How about the Millennium Falcon chase in Empire.......
VideoPro 05-04-2009, 00:03 Vanishing Point (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067927/) 99 minute car chase. Great stuff!
Ghost rider goes crazy in europe.
sheffseller 10-04-2010, 15:54 Dragon Tiger Gate, its more of a fight scene, but the end fight scene is EPIC...... Also the first Ong Bak chase scene.

On a similar theme the free running case at the beggining of a french action flick called district 13 was pretty impressive but the bond film had it licked
^GoAnywhere^ 14-05-2010, 23:20 Pacino going after DeNiro in Heat.
Ghost rider goes crazy in europe.
This one trumps it (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-781163969053975339#), I think. If Carlsberg made car chases... :D
Unfortunately, neither are part of a movie, so off-competition in this thread.
awesomeandy 08-10-2010, 14:12 Might be an obvious choice but North by North West has arguabley some of the best chase sequences in film history, also the Terminator 2 chase scene with Arnold on the motorbike and the 18 wheeler never gets old.
liamc413 12-10-2010, 12:33 the chases from the island are good.
quisquose 12-10-2010, 12:48 Might be an obvious choice but North by North West has arguabley some of the best chase sequences in film history, also the Terminator 2 chase scene with Arnold on the motorbike and the 18 wheeler never gets old.
North by Northwest is arguably the best film in film history imho. In fact I'm going to watch it again tonight now I've been reminded of it. I've got it on US blue-ray import. :)
Best chase in a film? My vote would be for Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.
Bulk Bag 16-10-2010, 17:56 Bullitt just classic............
