Me agen!:)
anyone know ne gud sites that actually state wot the current HCi principles are?
as i have to write about a created application, "justifying my choice to current HCI principles & the need for quality in application Dev."
like i understand that its all about user friendliness and things the application would have for the users such as wether they considered any other type of method the user could use such as touch-screen/keyboard shortcuts(alt keys) and stuff like that.....bet your all going to reply now and say "no its not",
but anyway thought it wud be gud if i wrote a bit about the HCI principles themselves, but cant find anything on google thats useful...
wud be grateful for any help as always!

I Googled and found these...

http://www.und.ac.za/users/murrell/classrm/genprin.html
http://www.computing.dcu.ie/~mward/ca256/HCI.pdf

Might be worth a look anyway - surely there must be some books in the library - I know when I did my Masters at Hallam there were a couple of good ones (not that I can remember any titles now!)

You will find many variations around the theme, but this is from here (http://www.cs.appstate.edu/~crr/cs4570_spr99/week2/tsld025.htm).

Shneiderman’s HCI Principles

Recognize diversity of users (Novice user, Knowledgeable intermittent user, Expert frequent user)
Be consistent
Enable frequent users to use shortcuts
Offer informative feedback
Design dialogs to yield closure
Offer error prevention and simple error handling
Permit easy reversal of actions
Support user locus of control
Reduce short-term memory load
Prevent Errors (correct matching pairs, complete sequences, correct commands)

I assume the cheque will be sent to the usual address?:D
