I love this time of year - coming out of work to the smell of 'freshly cut grass' ....light nights then driving home and listening to other peoples 'in car' music at the traffic lights coz they've got their windows/sunroofs open......
tonight I caught a few verses of Roger Sanchez - Another Chance at the lights.....that song really reminds me of the summer.........what songs/smells/noises remind you of the summer???

I've not heard the first lawnmower yet. That's when I'll know summer has begun.
It'll probably be on Saturday when I have a lie in tbh.
yeah the smell of BBQ's ....another summer scent!!

For me, it's all about when I can go out without a coat; I did this today, only to find myself in a coffee bar in the city in the middle of a hailstorm! Luckily, it stopped before I ventured outside!
i love summer rain, when its so hot and muggy and then there is a nice cooling shower,,, only problem is summer rain seems to have thunder and lightening and i petrified of thunder:shakes:
Going out in the evening when its light... Being on holiday and coming out of the club in the morning when its hot and swimming in the pool (no not in my swimsuit).... The smell of rain when it dries on the hot ground after a shower.... Driving with the windows down... Watching the bats fly to and from the roof of my house..... and watching them fly low over the river wye in bakewell while eating fish and chips...
I also like the noise of hedgecutters.....busy bees and lawn mowers...they all make my summer afternoon!!
I love the summer but the very hint of warm weather heralds the dark days to come. We have neighbours from hell and during the winter months we see very little of them ( but hear them still ). So summer arrives and so do the hoards of chavs complete with baby and toddler chavs. Bar B Q's are fired up on communal land, beer is swilled by the gallon, cars with boom systems arrive to share with us their lack of taste in the finer arts. Litter is scattered from their gatherings on the street and grassed areas.
Sitting and reading a book quietly is now a thing of the past.
On the very rare occassion I may hear a bee buzz and a frog croak. These are the real sounds of summer.
