Jabberwocky 11-08-2008, 12:20 AM Did anyone went to him in the 60s and 70s? The dentists had a limestone wall with fossils in it at the front of the surgery.
He was my dentist as a kid but Im trying to remember his name... does anyone remember that?
Dave59 11-08-2008, 02:50 AM Hi Jabberwocky
The Dentist you are thinking of is Mr Newbould.
I went to his surgery from the early 60's intil 1980. One of the attractions was that he had an Alsatian called Saber, if you had been good in the surgery your reward was to stroke the dog. The health and safety brigade would have nightmares!
During the last visit he had the radio playing in the surgery and it was broadcast that Mike Hailwood had died in a car accident (famous bike racer) sad :(
Hope this helps
DD

Jabberwocky 11-08-2008, 10:19 AM Newbould!
Thats the name!
He messed my teeth up a bit and even now, dentists ask me why I have so much work done.
I used to love looking at those fossils in the wall when I was a kid, I used to actually take a detour from walking home from school just to go and loook at them on some days.
Thanks for that, Ive been trying like mad to remember that name :D
Bushbaby 11-08-2008, 10:31 AM In 1972 I went to Newbould's and had six fillings, and still have all 6 today.
It wasn't Newbould himself, it was a lady dentist. She was very conscientious and did a marvellous job.
handypandy 11-08-2008, 09:50 PM Anyone remember Mr McGee from this surgery, often referred to when I was a kid as "Butcher McGee"?
jmdee 11-08-2008, 10:30 PM Was the office at the end on Crowder Ave., if so, I remember climbing on white painted rocks used as lanscaping from the pavement to his front garden which was built higher above.
