Intrigued as I am at the delights of Pianos, I noticed some time ago that some posh pianos have an extra Pedal.

I understood that one pedal is for sustain, one pedal is a damper, but what is the third one for?
Help

Occasionally pianos have a third pedal. This is the Sostenato pedal. It has a more discriminatory function than the sustained pedal inasmuch as it sustains only those notes activated during pedal use. All other notes remain damped and are incapable of resonating in sympathy.

If in doubt, google. Of course, if you were posh, you'd know what the pedal is already ;)

Ey up lad!

Hey Abdul, thanks for clearing that up, you are truly the GOOGLEGENIUS.

I am not posh because I have my dinner at lunchtime and my tea at dinner time.
But I am very good at using chopsticks in a cantonese resteraunt so middle pedal here I come. :heyhey:

My dads piano has three pedals. Sustain, soft and really soft. Weird. The really soft can be locked down for practicing I think!
