Violet May Barkworth died in August 1995, aged 85. PopT 11-08-2008, 07:43 AM I used to go to her shop on City Road near Bernard Street with a pal called Ernest Allen. We were both mad keen Jazz fans at the time. I often wonder whatever became of Ernest, I know he was a decent Drummer. He did work as a Fitter at the Grimesthorpe Steel Works and lodged at the back of the Midland station with his in laws with his young wife and baby. He was married at a very early age and I wondered if anyone else on here knew him? Bushbaby 11-08-2008, 10:33 AM yes remember voilet may .i have loads of LPs, dont know whot to do with them,? Happy Days Nodens 21-08-2008, 05:16 PM Wasn't Violet May's at the bottom of Duke St in the early 60s, I remember going there a few times?
