Also, from Cemetery Gates:- 'You say "'ere thrice hath the sun done salutation to the dawn" and you claim these words as your own; but I've read well and Ive heard them said a hundred times, maybe more'. But next time it's 'You say "ee do dahs do dums day" words which could only be your own; and then produced the text from whence was ripped, some diddly whore 1804'. But personally, the one I've chosen as my signature, from Lennon's Working Class Hero takes some beating. nick2 29-04-2005, 13:17 Even though I know all the words to most Stevie Wonder songs I can't resist joining in with "AS" Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky Until the ocean covers every mountain high Until the dolphin flies and parrots live at sea Until we dream of life and life becomes a dream Until the day is night and night becomes the day Until the trees and sea just up and fly away Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4 Until the day that is the day that are no more Until the day the earth starts turning right to left Until the earth just for the sun denies itself Until dear mother nature says her work is through Until the day that you are me and I am you Lily04 29-04-2005, 14:44 when all else fails, rely on this-> Hakuna Matata! All your life, You were only waiting for this moment to arise. Blackbird singing in the dead of night. Take these sunken eyes and learn to see. All your life You were only waiting for this moment to be free. --------------------- This song was written around 36 years ago, and along with it's delecate and intricate accompaniment, led Paul Gambuccini to believe that when he met Paul McCartney shortly after hearing this moving and brilliant song, that he was meeting the most important writer of music since Mozart. LordSnooty 29-04-2005, 19:22 Dead bird singing in the black of night......... LordSnooty 29-04-2005, 19:38 It's not intricate, it's a piece of p**s. Yes, I am refering to the (authentic) drop D tuning, guitar fans. Lovely song, all the same. Er........it's a bit ridiculous to compare MacCartney to Mozart, however. Pick one of his best songs, say, 'Penny Lane' and listen out for the complexity and skill in composition (and - most importantly - simply how good it sounds). Then dust your ears out and listen to the overture to The Marriage of Figaro (or any of Mozart's overtures, for that matter). Listen out for the complexity and skill in composition. Count the number of brilliant ideas (then give up when you've lost count). Note, simply, how good it sounds. Then faint.... Then put 'Penny Lane' on again. It isn't even on the same planet........and I absolutely LOVE and admire 'Penny Lane'! PS Don't try this experiment with anything by The Ink Spots - it doesn't work! Ousetunes 30-04-2005, 07:36 Lord Snooty - as I huge Beatles fan...hey, I weighed myself in York the other week and I'm 15 stone...I agree that Macca isn't quite in the mould of Mozart, although For No-One comes close if I'm in the right mood. Mozart's 40th is simply stunning. But you forgot to pick up on one vital point: that drop D tuning. I bet ol' Wolfie never thought of that, did he?! Now, get a violin, and set the strings to drop D and play his 40th Symphony. See, sounds ****e doesn't it?
