Has anyone else been to this fantastic new restaurant at Castle Square?

Food is fantastic and really cheap - half the price (at least) of Wagamama. The staff are really friendly and it's much needed in that part of town. It's where that old cafe used to be with the horrible pictures of chips and beans outside (opposite TJ Hughes).

Tsingtao beer is only £1.60 a bottle too.

Apparently there is one in Liverpool which is always packed. I hope they do well.

:suspect: only a few posts and plugging a new restaurant - do you work there perhaps ????

That's the last time I give any recommendation of a new restaurant then.

Impressive detective work Loopylou, but on this occasion unfounded. I went to Tokyou with girlwiththeb earlier (we work together nearby) and can confirm that she doesn't work there. However we might get mistaken for working there in future as I think we'll be regular customers. Very recommended new eaterie, top food and service, great value too - check it out. :)

I stand corrected - glad you enjoyed the food - by way of an apology i will go there for a meal and eat my words.

sorry !!!

I have tried the one in liverpool. Very nice food indeed and quite packed just like girlwiththeb said.

As I am a student in liverpool, i only come bk to sheffield when im on term break. Suprise to see there is a noodle bar with the same name as the one in liverpool (not sure r they the same one?)

i am gonna try the meal from there in the next couple of days and hope it isnt gonna be disappointing. :)

P.S. I always support ppl who gives comments on new restaurant and food, so girlwithheb dont get detaunted by negative comments. :D

I went here on Thursday. It was really fantastic and the staff were very friendly.
I just hope its location doesnt end up making it close down. It was pretty dead when we visited

The girl who served us said it's the same as the Liverpool one.

Thanks InfernalHero!

Hopefully the new offices around there will keep them busy but they definitely need some advertising or flyers around town.

Tried this place last week food not to bad, great value for money. But shame about the location.

I feel this place will not last long, as we all know no one goes into town for dinner in the evenings.

Tsingtao beer is only £1.60 a bottle too.

Now, although the food will be my main reason to visit, this is cheaper then anywhere else I have seen it in the City Centre, great stuff!

Went here this week. Impressed with the food (tokyou ramen) and service. However it was very quiet (Weds lunchtime). Think it will struggle because of location. Cheaper than wagamamas but lacks atmosphere. Hope it does well.

Just been this afternoon and I thought it was really nice. The Mrs didn't like the duck because it still had the skin on but we'd just ask for it removed next time. Have to say I hope it does well it was really good and fantastic value!

I went there last night and I can only recommend this place!
It was not very busy, the staff were very friendly and the food lovely! The portions are big and it's really good value!
Even dishes with king prawns and scallops are around £5/£6. And green tea is complimentary. + they gave us 20% discount (because they've just opened?) so we just paid £11 for 2...

I will definitely go back!

Went there yesterday afternoon - will definitely be heading back many times!! Friendly staff, quick service, great value for money, big portions and quality ingredients.
£1.60 Tsingtao certainly helps as well!

3 starters, 3 mains, free green tea, 3 beers, 2 soft drinks and full stomachs all for £23! Quality.

Went for the first time last night and was impressed. Had a japanese set meal which included a large main dish (I had mixed veg) and rice, with small sides of Chicken and potato, soup, salad, a side of hot sauce, and two slices of orange. It was great and with the 20% off it was 4 pound. My partner enjoyed his dish too, we shared a starter of spring rolls, 5 bottles of beer and two pots of green tea the bill came to just over 15 pound. The waitress was really helpful and I liked the interior too. We'll definitely be going again very soon.

I lived in Liverpool for a few years and I'm delighted TokYou has opened here. Its always packed in Liverpool and I'm sure it will be here to. Can't wait to have a noodle soup with fried tofu!

I'm now qualified to jump on the bandwagon.

Went Sunday thought it was well done out (Nicer than most of the other noodle bars of this style), free green tea was a nice touch, food was v nice, portion size just right (Big in my case) and value for money unbeatable in Sheffield for this sort of place.

The 20% discount on your bill runs until the end of Sept if my memory serves me correctly but the place was noticably cheaper than it's peers anyway (Well over half the Wok fried noodle or rice dishes were under £5).

Only fly in the ointment for me is that parking is not as convienient as for East One or the London Road places.

I'll definately be going back and soon.

If anyone involved with the place is reading this. Better advertisment needed on the outside. The monotone A4 pieces of paper aren't as eye catching as they need to be.

Went last night for tea with Mrs F and we were pretty impressed - good food, decent portions, very friendly waitress and the place has been kitted out very nicely.

We had 2 bottles of Tsing-tao, 2 starters and 2 mains (which neither of us could finish) for a grand total of less than £17. You can't argue with that!

Just hope they get enough custom in that spot to be able to stay open.

I had lunch there today, crispy chicken wing starters and beef noodle main. Both were excellent, will definitely be going there again. Only small problem was that it was cash only so embarrassingly I had to run to a cash machine when it came to paying up time. I didn't see it written anywhere that this was the case though.

The NCP by the cruicible theatre or the one by the Carling Academy. Both pretty much equidistant.

we went there this week. Around 6pm, place was empty apart from two other people. Food was quick to arrive but very nice starter of chicken satay and my hubby enjoyed his chilli beef. My main course of sweet and sour chicken was quite nice and couldn't finish it as quite big portion. Only downside is they didn't take debit card so had to pay cash so make sure you have enough on you. Would probably go back there for tea .

We went this afternoon. We really enjoyed it. The portions were massive (mains) and the service was great. We will def go back.

Only a couple of negative comments, the lighting in the toilets was way to low - I know it's the effect they are looking for but I had to take my baby there to change her nappy and couldn't see a thing. Only other thing was the soft drinks were warm. They sell them from big bottles and these aren't kept in the fridge, granted you get ice but it's not the same.

We had 3 starters, 3 mains and 6 soft drinks and it was £22.50 excellent value and lovely interior.

Went on Saturday, just after lunch. OH loves noodle bars so I thought we could try it. He wasn't disappointed and got back more than a fiver in change from a £20 (two starters, two mains and two soft drinks). He had the chicken curry and was very pleased. I had a veggie noddle dish and there was way too much for me. The waitress came over and asked me if I liked it because there was still quite a lot left and wanted to pack it for us. Excellent service.

Things will definitely pick up for them when both universities start back.

as mentioned, its cheap and cheerful, decent food, nothing fancy tho and a bit of a mish mash of dishes but for the price you can't fault it. Perfect for lunch, tea or mid beers scrannin

I went last week. Although there were only two tables of people in, I really enjoyed the meal. Loads to eat and very tasty. Service was quick (maybe because there was hardley anyone in ?), and polite. The place itself is very nice too. I just hope they get more business with respect to the location. - Recommended.

We went the other week. It was OK, but I didn't think it amazing. The portions were huge, but the vegetarian choice is very limited (and bland) and they don't do puddings. The venue itself could be nicer, too.

I think they were the same price, but at around £4 for a huge portion, I'm certainly not complaining! The 20% off is for eat in and take out, by the way. I wished I worked a bit closer as I'd certainly consider it for lunch!

I went this afternoon with my boyfriend and was very impressed. We didn't have too long on the meter for the car but wanted a snack so we decided to try something different and popped in. We both had ramen noodle soup (veg for me and chicken for my bloke) and the portions were HUGE!! I felt really bad as we just did not have time to finish before we had to get back to the car! The food was lovely, tasted good, filling and so cheap - 2 huge portions of soup and a big glass of water came to £6.40. Now, when I say soup this wasn't like soup I had before, it was like a huge bowl piled high with fresh veggies, tofu and noodles, with plenty of soupyness too.
We both really enjoyed it and will defo be going back soon. I felt rude as we did not stay too long, just ate some paid and left, so I would definitely like to go back and stay a bit longer next time. I hope the staff didnt think us too rude.
The staff were very polite and friendly and answered my allergy related queries.
Good service, cheap and quick.
It was pretty quiet when we went in, 3 other occupied tables, I hope that the location doesn't stop this place taking off as it is nice to have a cheap decent option in the city centre as my old favourite has gone way downhill (bluemoon - it has become overpriced and the service is poor)
I will def go back to tokyou, hope it doesn't close due to where it is, it isn't the nicest part of town.
Does anyone have the opening times? I may go early evening next week if theyre open.
Give it a try though, we enjoyed it.

I would also recommend this place. Went there yesterday. Had 2 starters, 2 wok fried rice dishes, 2 Tsingtao beers and a glass of wine all for £15! Food was good and portion sizes are huge. Unfortunately there were only a couple of other tables occupied when we arrived and this was very much the case when we left as well - at this rate I wonder how long they'll remain open.

omg this place is amazing!!!!!
i am filled to the brim and will not be having any tea today!!!
we had 2 beers,my other half had shezhaun vermelli noodles and i went for the crispy prawn dish from the set menu bit...mine consisted of...chicken and veg soup, chicken and potatoes,a salad, chilli dip,a HUGE portion of rice with chillis, garlic etc and the prawns...well what can i say...there were EIGHT huge king prawn butterflys on top!!!and then oranges to finish!!!!
it came to only £11.60!!!!!!!!!!!
the set dish i got was sooooooo worth it as there were 6 different things on my tray and i couldnt eat it all!!!!
i will smell of garlic for a week but oh well!!!!
the food is fab!!!

Went for the first time this lunch too and thought it was good. It seems there's still %20 off all food. We had green tea which is free, some squid and a pork noodle dish. It was around £7 for lunch for two which does make you want to walk up to Mcdonalds and shout "what the hell are you doing here!". Hope it survives.

(Only trouble was, I got back to the car and had to pay £7.20!!! This was for 2 1/2 hrs parking in the Odeon car park. I went to Castle Market to get some well priced meat and veg, cheap lunch at the noodle place, then it was all wiped out by a ridiculous charge.)

i went for tea on friday, and would echo most of the comments on here.
its really cheap and you get lots for your money!

on the more critical side.... i felt the chicken was not the best quality meat and the hot and spicy dishes were not that hot and spicy !

but if you are looking for cheap quick and cheerful - then you can't go too wrong here.
