my friend is looking for a breeder, anyone know one?

the best place to find a breeder is a good dog show, where you can meet a lot of them in one go, see how healthy their dogs are, and find out about their homing policies etc (eg, do they take their own 'pups' back should the worst happen and you can't keep the dog - no matter how old they are!)

Be VERY wary of answering any ads in the paper... check out the thread we have running at the moment on a GSD pup somebody bought. They were assured the pup had been wormed, flead and vacced, but none of those had taken place at all, and the pup may suffer long term harm from the worms it's had from a very early age

Yorkies are prone to heart problems, so if you don't want to run the risk of large vet bills for the lifetime of the pup - choose your breeder carefully


If you're actually looking for a stud dog, don't take any papers you see at face value if the breeder you're talking to isn't the owner of the dogs in the pedigree papers - google the kennel names, and ring the breeder of those dogs direct to check the papers aren't forged (a common problem these days)
