Which body type do men prefer, skinny (Kate Moss, Courtney Cox, Posh Spice) or Curvy (Kate Winslet, Charlotte Church, Emma Bunton) women, and why?

I didn't vote. There are a dozen bodytypes that aren't accounted for under the banners "skinny" and "curvy", so it's not as cut and dried as that. Personally I prefer the petite look - Anna Friel and Kylie for me. But having said that, there's some sexy skinny women out there, and Bridget Jones does it for me too. Although she's very pretty, I'd have to draw the line at Dawn French.

Definitely curvy - a lady should be well upholstered, like the gorgeous Kate Winslett.. Who was it who said that making love to a skinny woman was like having sex with a bicycle? Or who said 'You need a good cushion when your doin' the pushin'?

Curvy - and most men seem to agree too. It's only women who seem to think skinny is more attractive and they put pressure on themselves to look that way when most men prefer curvier women anyway. Strange.

Speaking as a woman, I think if I were a man, I'd be after Kylie ... but then, I also think a certain Miss Marilyn Monroe was simply the most gorgeous woman on the planet, and she was a size 14/16 ...

Timo, for once I have to disagree with you. Regular forumers will know that ladies aren't my thing, but in the way that you, Timo, could perhaps think Robbie (for example) was good looking, I can do so with girls. I personally think that both Fern and Dawn are fantastic examples of womanhood; I would rather date either of them than any of the aforementioned females!

I take your point re the attractiveness of women in the size range of 14/16, and I think Monroe was fabulous. However, 'Fern' and 'Dawn' as they are known to dear Kris, are considerably larger than this. No offence intended to women of the fullest of figures. I always like to think that there is something beautiful about all women, whether they conform to a certain cultural criteria or not. It may be a certain look in the eye, the way a smile plays about the lips, or some haunting, hard to define quality. I like them to have a large bank balance, and a generous spirit, personally.

Hey, I'm not offended, and I hope I haven't offended anyone!

I said earlier that girls aren't my thing, but I really don't think that stops me from looking at a lady and seeing she is or isn't attractive. I personally don't think skinny girls are attractive (generally), but can see the beauty in all things.

Coincidentally, I don't go for skinny guys either. Maybe that's a reflection on myself as a big bloke (they do say you go for people you look like yourself! ;) ), or maybe as someone that has sufferred from eating disorders in the past, I don't value the skinny frame as much as others?

In essence, while I know which side my bread is buttered, I also think I can appreciate beauty from all sides!

Fair enough, but I think that's the exception to the rule. I find it quite easy to comment on whether a guy is good looking or not. As I said it's a matter of aesthetics over sexuality. We can all appreciate what looks good, whether it be male, female, human or not. I'm pretty sure that most people would feel comfortable commenting on aesthetics.

I don't like women skinny, they remind me of young boys. I prefer tall women with their curves in the right place. I find that women have a different view on when they are fat, and many women who look great, complain about being fat when they are just natural looking. Eg Rene Z when she was Bridget jones1 looked normal to me, but now she looks like a stick insect and extremely ill.

Hates: skinny, very fat, short hair, face piercing, smoking, lazy.
Loves: intelegence, tall, long hair, larger boobs, energetic.

Well I like petite curvy women but not too curvy! if you see what I mean!. Yeah Kylie is very very sexy and its that type of body. I dont like stick thin women with no shape i.e. heroin chic look or even Donna Air type to name one. Yeah she is very good looking but too thin. Face wise I like the Mediterranean look and I dont like them to tall!!

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I would hazard a guess (with men being....well men ;) ) that curvy in this context means 'having big boobs'.

Curvy usually refers to having an hourglass figure.. The ample frontage sometimes comes along with that!

some men prefer just a handful, and some prefer a little more, but curvy means she's got nice boobs(not necessarily very large) and she goes in at the stomach and out a little again at the hips.
Kelly Brooke has a superb figure, but Pamela Anderson is a stick insect with comedy boobs.

Awwww - can I not vote for both? In all honesty I have found people of either body type attractive and more often than not it's just that theres something about them that stands out and that I like rather than they are < size 10 or > size 14!

I had one of these once. It was a great runner, but very light at the back. I had to keep a large flagstone in the boot during winter to make sure it could cope with bad weather. It was also very prone to rust. By the time I got rid of it, there was more rust than metal on the body..

In my experience there doesn't seem to be a general rule for what I find attractive. Everyone that I have been attracted to in the past has been completely different in shape, looks and personality. This does get confusing when people ask me what type I go for. I simply cannot even start to narrow that down. Either I fancy someone, or I don't. Although I can find many people attractive, it's very rare that I fancy anyone.

Ps. will someone come up with a better word than fancy? It's such a 12 year old's word and just sounds stupid.

I'd just like to point out that there is a clear difference between slim and skinny, and curvy and fat.

I find petite girls sexy :)

Prefer slim (definately NOT skinny) say a size 8 or a bit more curvy upto a size 12 is nice too

I have always found them delightful company. Scottish girls often have a superb sense of humour, very dry, sometimes known as 'pawkiness'. They are often very stylish, feminine and alluring, particularly the women of East Scotland. There is a steely quality there too, mark you. It is not dissimilar to that of Yorkshirewomen. dress size really does not matter anyway, I'm pretty tall (5'9") I would look quite ill if I was a size ten where a petite women would just look normal sized.

Ideally should be not too thin, not too fat, nice (and definately not short!) hair, nice smile, nice eyes, decent handful chest (but not too big either)...

Having said all that though there are much more important things... like having things in common, good sense of humour, intelligence, personality etc!

I didn't vote. There are a dozen bodytypes that aren't accounted for under the banners "skinny" and "curvy", so it's not as cut and dried as that. Indeed, very narrow choice of body types there, I just voted to see the reuslts.

as long as she is feminine and not obese curvy women can look sexy so can skinny ones it all depends on how they are dressed the main thing is a sense of humour ( they have to understand mine)

I would say slim, but the toned slim, not skinny slim.

Nice toned bum and legs (like my missus) are of particular interest to me.

Size of breasts isn't really that important although i would lean more towards small and pert.

Like stated by other people, there is one shape I prefer, but it is not skinny, nor completley curvy.

Definetly, curvy you need something to hold onto, not hold so she does'nt blow away in the breeze.

Id like to get hold of something that i could cuddle nice and curvy, but to be honest size/build doesnt matter to me....

that is soooo wrong! she's got to have a nice body, to me that's important - doesn't really matter if she's slim or curvy as long as she's a nice shape and toned, not chubby or fat, well that's my opinion anyhow

I think men should be free to say which body type they like. It would be a sad world if men all went after only one shape & size. We'd either have millions of single people or everyone would have to be cloned!:)

Now, perhaps we can get back to topic. No, it isn't the case. I am not 'poor me':( = frown, not weep! If it was a case of 'poor me' I'd act like a doormat & not say anything. I am not casting aspersions either, someone had a rant at me so I replied & I wasn't off topic. Did you notice that someone said I had a problem with naked bodies and that I expected men to only like other mens bodies? Of course I'm going to reply to that, wouldn't you? I was trying to say it didn't matter to me whether it was a womans body or a mans body, whatever shape or size you are attracted to is your business.

Is there really any point in making things so frustrating? You sound the same with 'your mod hat off' as you do with it on & you sound like you have a personal problem with me!
