In answer to your question though , I think we ll have all we need in terms of skill , but whether we are tough enough .. Im not sure.

Theres a fans Q & A session with Matty next Wednesday night at Ice Sheff , hopefully he will be able to answer all our questions , and of course we ll get a little hockey fix while we wait for the season to start :hihi:

Yeah true, Voth is a great player, a complete player! kind of in the mould of Scott Allison but more intimidating!
I think Hull will do alot better this year than last year, i think they will finnish infront of edinburgh, and maybe even looking at about 7th. :D

I agree on Cornish, i always liked him, sure he wasnt the greatest of players, but he knew his role and didnt complain about the lack of ice time like cloots did! he always gave 110% and will do for the Bison.

I loved Corny's chicken dance to Shmyr last year. He knew exactly what he had to do. Quite like Buzz though - we sat behind the penalty box for the last match against Panther's last season and he was funny to watch - the way he carried on taunting the panther's player who he fought with.

Can't wait for this year though - hopefully we can build on our playoff success.

yeah that was my only concern mark about lehman, and a lack of size with the forwards. hopefully i will be prooved wrong on both but time will tell

Well people , what do we reckon to todays bombshell , Andrew Sharpe , played last season for Romford and for Blaze. He got completely battered by JC !!!
If he plays just within the enforcer role , with limited ice time I think it might work. Although got to say the guy needs to work on his attitude a little. One game last season against Scims he thought it was cool to fire pucks at them during warm up. Firm grip I think Matty!!!!

As to the Jody debate , Matty must have looked for a replacement as it was public knowledge Jody was trying to get a more lucrative contract elsewhere, maybe he thought there was no NM any better around.

I didnt think Sharpey did that bad against Cornish stood up, just the sort of instigator nasty so and so we need, V Devils get him straight into Voth, They lose Voth we lose a brit kid big deal, i think this is great business,

He'll def get bums on seats, Likes to start fights in the warm up to,

im happy with the signing of sharp a tenth forward, who gives us versatility! hes not gonna light up the scoreboard, but he sure knows his role!
way i see it is, hes not in the league of voth, clouthier, cornish, but i'd rather have sharp sit out 5minutes for fighting rather than munn, gillies or finnerty!
If he fights someone like voth, it'd be a great trade to have voth out of the game for a minimum of five minute. even if anyone turns down the invitation to fight sharpe, he's still wound up the opposition, like the chicken dance corny did to shymr in nottingham! the crowd gets into it more, it gives the bench a morale boost! win win situation! as long as he doesnt take any daft penalties, this will prove to be a very good signing!

thats what im saying, i mean what has voth, cloots, corny got to prove by fighting a 24year old brit kid? what have they got to get out of it? they cant really test themselves. but from this if they do decline sharpe, this will give us a morale boost, just the way corny did, when shymr turned him down in nottingham, making the panthers look like fools!

yeah i see what you mean but i guess only time will tell, im still not sure whether hes our asset, i.e. will play predominantly for us, and then scimitars when we arent playing or vice versa! im not sure, but from what matsos says on the website it sounds like hes our asset

Been to the fans meet with Matty tonight.
A summary ( of what I can remember)
Players lost the Play off cup on their return to sheffield , Matty had to ring a few pubs till they eventually found it lol.
Sharpe is under no illusions why he s here. Matty said he cant wait to get cracking on home ice!!
He s pleased Florence has got the chance as a starting goalie.
Warrens decision to leave ,Mattys glad he s gone with the Scims, he s forging a good working relationship with Ron, working with him on the 2 way contracts.
Very pleased with the shirts ( no clues about colour or style etc).
Legue signed within a week of play offs.
Looking forward to getting a new rink, as hopefully it will give fans more time to meet players etc , at restaurants on site after games. Home Ice whenever we want it.
Nathan Gillies is all fired up and cant wait to come over , we got him just before he signed for Manchester.
Matty and Okie did fly over to France to see Bronsard play , after Jody told them he was seeing what else was available to him.
Dowd going to get plenty if ice time.

Sure there was lots more , but cant remember offhand lol.
But all in all a very confident Matty , reiterating all the time on the "fit" of the team, all the players are very keen to get back. They ll all be here by next Monday apart from Randy who ll be here next Tuesday.:hihi:

im happy about the new rink, its about ten minutes walk from my house, so cant wait! makes it easier for me to train aswell!
As for the team needing their own ice, i believe we do aswell sally-pie. the arena continues to charge us extortionate rent costs for games (hence smaller games at ice sheffield) last year for the first year in the clubs history it broke even finance wise, so to move forward as a club financially it makes more sense, the team can rent out the ice to other teams, and public sessions, thus creating more money.......hopefully.

The 45 minute drive you know, which wya would you go? through heeley-gleadless-mosborough? that way? because i think that would be the most direct from youre area

I've only just discovered the mosborough way and keep getting lost! The way I know best is to head out on the parkway and via the A57 as this is the way to the A1.
I think I'm just a little frustrated that I don't get to make as many games as I'd like because of my job, I'll miss the start of this season because my rota's already done for September, and with the new ice being so far away from me I'll probably miss more in the future than I do now. I'm going to print off the fixtures list now and start negotiating with my boss, oh joy!

thats not really treating him "bad" Coaches tell players every year that they are not going to be part of the team next year. It works both ways now days, any player that recieves a better contract offer can walk away from a club also. so saying they dont want him back, is not treating him bad! They way it was done may lend some substance to any statment, but thats another subject! :D

Was no surprise really. I bet they knew he was coming back earlier in the summer and that it was all signed then. Makes no difference to me, 1 player doesn't make a team. this season there is to be four officials, and if sunday is anythin to go by it will be a farce, the refs will be on a power trip espcially Carson, he gave that many pens in the last 5 mins on sunday he'd forgotton who was in the box for what, threw players out that werent meant to be

Due to technical difficulties with Sheffield Arena's ice plant the Sunday 30th November’s Steelers v Basingstoke ice hockey fixture will now be taking place at Ice Sheffield.

Customers who wish to attend the re-scheduled fixture at IceSheffield should either bring their tickets down to the Arena Entrance B on Saturday where the Steelers will be exchanging and selling tickets from 9am until 5pm or take their tickets to IceSheffield to be exchanged after 5pm on Sunday.

Customers not wanting to attend the fixture can return their tickets to the Sheffield Arena Box Office for a full refund (tickets must be returned before Sunday's fixture to obtain a refund).

Sunday's fixture against Basingstoke will now be at IceSheffield and will face-off at 6pm - customers are advised to arrive as early as possible to allow time to exchange tickets.

If anyone has any further questions please contact the Arena Box Office on 0114 256 56 56.

Sheffield Steelers play in the Elite League.(Arena)

The Sheffield Scimitars play in the Epl , English Premier League.(Ice Sheffield)

In House is a game of hockey played by two teams from the same Ice Hockey Academy , in junior level this means that the 12 A play 14 B , 10 s play 12 B .Im sure it carries on all through the various ages.

In the past the Steelers ran an In House session on a Monday night at Ice Sheffield for all age groups . Players didnt have to be members of a team. I think this session still happens but not sure of the Steelers involvement.

Steelers V Pheonix Weds( tomorrow). Season Ticket holders can bring a child for free , upon redemption of a voucher from st booklet. All other kids "for a quid" with a paying adult.

Steelers have tonight been confirmed as champions steelers win 4 1 and coventry lose.
Just for the hard nut fans the team is travelling back from newcastle and should arrive back at the arena about 11.30 for a welcome home celebration

Woohoooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Set off for Newcastle at 1 pm , found out somewhere on the A1 on the way home the boys had done it !!!!!! Arrived back at the Arena Square about 10 ish . Stayed for the party , freezing , wet and windswept . Home about 2am !!

Still cant get the smile off my face !!
