I graduated from University 1 year ago with a 2:1 in Leisure Events Management.

I have done some basic admin work since then.

I have sent me Cv to so many events companies in Sheffield but with no luck.

Im now coming to the end of my temp contract and I am wanting to get into the events industry.

Anyone with any ideas who to approach?

Thanks

You need to be prepared to work for nothing! I recently got a work experience placement with a company, for one day a week, unpaid. I was working all hours in 2 casual jobs and thought that would be it until the placement ended. Then they called before i even started and said they suddenly needed someone fulltime and did i want the chance to apply. of course! i got it, so now i am on contract with them til nov, and hopefully they keep me on, ill just have to prove myself.

have you already been working in events?

ive done a little bit, did some work at an events company ringing rounf their database updating it, and i worked for sheffield sports events unit as a student placement and i also worked weekend helping to set up and run kids parties for a local party planning company.
These are all just a few months though.
Ive sent my cv to so many places and they just come back saying "nothing at the moment" or "not enough experience.
Its very frustrating.

It's because they expect you to have already working inthe industry for a few years at least to get anything decent. Ive been having the same problem you're best off starting off in a small job linked to it and working your way up

Yeah its one of them things where you want the job but need experience but how do you get the exeperience if no-one wants to give you a job :(

voluntary! trust me it helps they still prefere people who have worked in the industry years but if you say i've done this this and that all unpaid it shows you're willing to commit yourself to it.
i hope it all goes well for you and you find a job soon
