Try Graham Motors at Handsworth, honest and reliable. Charges going rate but will tell you honestly if a job doesn't need doing. We've used him for twenty years and never had a complaint.

I have used Victoria Motors at Stocksbridge for the last 4 years and they are really good. They have looked at my car brakes, fixed winscreen wiper etc., and not even charged me. Nothing is too much trouble, I would definitely recommend them.

Try Lancaster and Maw near the Acorn pub at the top of Burncross. They have been in business over 30 years, all the locals use them and they are as honest as the day is long.

Depends what you want doing, if it's spray work then i'd recomend Hillfoot motors on neepsend lane, but if it's mechanical then i'd say Aycliff motors on attercliff road....

Lloyds a good bloke. I also like DL Autos on Rutland Road. Very helpful and friendly, and will try very hard to help any situation.

Try Rutland Autos...ask for Stewart or Rodney...Stewart for auto work and Rodney for bodywork and spraying.
I once worked for a car parts company :o we supplied parts to some of the places mention in this thread. OMG if only you could see the quality of some of these components.

Century Motors in Hillsborough.

Did my MOT and it passed without all the often unnecessary work you associate with one.

i wouldnt use a general garage and prefer someone who specialise in the brand so he knows whats the faults and where to get parts cheap, how does a general mechcanic know the common fault on you make of car?

For any tyre or alloy needs come to us - we often send folk away who thought they needed a full set of new tyres but really only need 1 or 2. Some of the big chains it seems routinely tell people (especially ladies) that they need more work doing than is necessary.

Erm because he is a mechanic?!?! and they train to know. He gets his cheap parts from the place I get my cheap parts which give you the option of genuine parts or another brand!

I'd second that. A good sign is that they are always busy, but will get you in asap.

I second that. Used to use them for our cars when lived at Chapeltown. Very reasonable and never ripped us off. They're a great bunch of guys. The company, my then husband, worked for even took their vans there for servicing/MOT'ing on our recommendation.

When we live in Sheffield (up to sept 2003) I used newhall motors as it was close to work, and they were (IMHO) honest and reliable.

Aye, been to the guys (through the Century Motor's forecourt) for Bodywork repairs/upgrades this past month. Found out about them via the Ford Focus Owners club and they come highly recommended.

Mark (owner) is a top bloke - does MOT's and more, definitely worth speaking to and it's where I'll be going first sign of any problems with my motor.
