View Full Version : Madelaine McCann police evidence in the public domain
Now that the police files have been released what are peoples opinions on the McCanns and the investigation?
For my own part there are still too many issues that don't sit comfortably, not least of which are the DNA and dog results.
Glamrock 06-08-2008, 08:23 The portugese police will now stay silent on the case, and rightfully so,leaving the McCanns carte blanche to bend and twist the facts as they see fit.,they certainly have access to enough funds to do so
leviathan13 06-08-2008, 08:31 I'm just sick of this story now. I was about 10 months ago, but it's beyond a joke now.
The parents had some dealings with it and this is just them trying to trick and deceive everyone. The sooner they're found out the better!

Are you meaning that in the sense that these were presented to the McCanns as if they were strong evidence of a dead body and blood being present, rather than the 'inconclusive' conclusion drawn by the forensic science people?
Thankfully both our Police and the Portuguese Police have standards of evidence that are required before laying a prosecution, but I wonder if this can be a hindrance on occasion.
From memory, and happy to be corrected if somebody wants to take the time:
15 out of 18 DNA markers were not exclusive to the child. What about the other three?
The dogs used have a reputation at being remarkably reliable. The pair are actually with SY Yorks Police and are hired out across the world for three grand a week. One of them recently detected human remains under a concrete floor in a certain Jersey basement. I'd be interested to hear the handlers opinion, but of course we can't.
Don't get me wrong - it will be a blinding result if we find her or the parents find out what happened (if they don't already know) but - Some of us don't give two turds anymore! The words sick, back, to, teeth, and the spring to mind!
jossyboy 06-08-2008, 09:20 indeed, i understand the parents wanting to persue this but why does the general public need to know every minute detail. bored now
cgksheff 06-08-2008, 09:47 ......... The pair are actually with SY Yorks Police and are hired out across the world for three grand a week. .........
Despite a lot of sloppy reporting to the contrary, I am fairly sure that John Ellis Martin Grimes left the police and won a court case to keep 'Eddie' & 'Keela' (trained at our expense?) and now makes a fortune from these dogs.
SallyLaLaLa 06-08-2008, 09:47 Jossyboy, I've just looked at your sig......is there something you're not telling us?
And Halibut, the DNA and dogs may be inconclusive evidence, but why is there no evidence at all for any of the other theories? Just saying like...
Original post meaningless since previous post quoted waas changed.

I stand out of date and well corrected. Has he made any comment on their efficacy?
Greybeard 06-08-2008, 10:05 It's odd the Portuguese police didn't follow up the reported sighting in Holland..

The Portuguese police seem to have put a great deal of effort in trying to prove the McCanns were themselves responsible....just the impression I get of the whole affair.

I thought the dog handler was Martin Grimes, a now retired cop?

That has been followed up. It was on ITN last night that the McCanns agreed it wasn't her. It's in a lot of articles too, a few papers miss it out for sensationalism. They followed it up and didn't tell the McCanns because they knew it wasn't her. Reread or watch whatever it is you heard this from. It doesn't say it wasn't followed up, it just says the McCanns weren't informed.

I also stand corrected and am amending my post.

It's just the usual media spin on things, reporting things where not all the facts are known. The sighting in Holland was reported to Dutch police and it's quite likely that this report by Ms.Stam was quickly dismissed by the police.
Think about it, you have the world's most sought after girl in the world.
Would you really take her into a shop give her free reign to go where ever she pleases and what's more hold a conversation with the shop keeper!:loopy:
What's more the Mccanns made it quite clear that Madeleine never responded to the name "Maddy",in fact she really disliked being called "Maddy". So when someone asks "what's your name?" she's hardly going to repond "Maddy" is she?
If Ms.Stam hasn't deliberately fabricated this story then it's quite likely that she was taken in by a young girl who pretended to be "Maddy" just for the fun of it, after all It wouldn't suprise me if some little girls actually wanted to be Maddy after saw how much fuss was being made over her by the media,in a rather perverse way "Maddy" has become a media star.
Odd that not much was uncovered about the Dutch sighting?, not really, there were probably thousands of misidentifications and hoaxes, and this seems to be one of them.

Maybe so the money keeps pouring in

They've got themselves in to a hole now and they won't be able to stop using the media until this farce ends.
The moment they stop using the media, the media will use them. So they have to keep up the facade.
I still theink they're at least guilty of having involvement in the disappearance. The more this goes on, the more it reinforces my belief.
BasilRathbon 08-08-2008, 12:24 As they've still got a couple of kids left, perhaps they could keep themselves in the public eye by going out on the lash again and leaving one of them home alone to be snatched by another imaginary villain.

Yup, there's more chance of being a millionaire that way than winning the lottery!
